Thank you for publishing this letter; I had heard about it but not read the content. I agree with Mr. Boone's analysis and feeling regarding the media and their damage to our nation. Freedom of Press and Freedom of Speech are a far cry from the liberal brain washing and patriot denegration and American bashing we hear and receive today and call news. Maybe we needed to know about the prison abuses, but rather than continuous coverage and blaming America, they should have been compared to the reality of what the terrorist have done to our people and our allies. We can not give in to this; to give in is to live as they do in Israel and Palestine and this war has been going on for thousands of years. The Muslins and Arabs do not hate us for this war; they hate us for our profession of Christianity and our freedoms, which have created our wealth and our power. I have lost my interest and trust in any major network; I occasionally watch FOX, but never CNN or CBS, the worst of the worst; occasionally local news. I quit CBS when Dan Rather gave his gutless and biased interview of Sadam Hussein, not once, but twice. As for Hollywood, I suggest boycott all of them. 95% of the good ones are dead now anyway. What will reach them except loss of their over-generous, undeserved income and socialist prestige? Boycott the companies and media that give them their platform. The best of the best of the comments herein are by H. R. Hughes and Max Friedman. Thank you for your well thought out, intelligent and well written comments. KEEP PATRIOTISM ALIVE. Christians keep PRAYING, Pray continuously and share important information-especially that God is alive and well, that He does care; He may not be a Democrat or a Republican and He has created us with a free will, but He said our choices would lead to life or to destruction. Thank you for allowing me to share and thank you for the letter and the comments herin. GOD BLESS AMERICA; We are still A NATION UNDER GOD.

Pat Boone I agree with you completely. Everyone that thinks the public should be kept up to date with all that is going on and thinks it is alright for the media to tell and show ALL, how do you think you would feel if it were your son, daughter, father mother, sister or brother in the pictures for all the world to see? Our service persons are fighting for us to have freedom and as a proud country it is surely terrible that our few military persons would lower our standards to be like the people we are fighting. As far as President Bush goes, if we dont keep a God fearing man in the Whitehouse we are doomed as a nation. This all started before he came into office and he sure has had a mess to try to clean up. To all those that have expressed their thoughts, saying the countries we are fighting havent done anything to us, well ask the families from 9/11 if anything was done to us. Isn't it wonderful we the people of the GREATEST COUNTRY in the world have a right to our opinion. THANK YOU, SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN FOR FIGHTING FOR ME AND ALL AMERICANS. MOST OF ALL THANK YOU LORD FOR LETTING ME LIVE IN SUCH A WONDERFUL COUNTRY. Thank you Deerlake. *********************GOD BLESS AMERICA****************** C. LASSITER VA.

I agree with Pat Boone's statement. They is plenty of time to broadcast the story after our soldiers are back home and not in the hostile region that already hates America, even though we are trying to deliver them from the imhumane treatment that they have had to endure for so many years. CBS is to the far left and does not report the truth and does not seem to realize if they were not in AMERICA, they would not be allowed to say the things they say. I believe in free speech but we have to think about protecting our beloved country at a time when it is under attack from so many evil forces. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Prior to reading this article, I had already made the decision to quit watching CBS. The only program that I watch on CBS now is the local news at 6:00 pm. I only watch this because the weather person's parents live close to the small town where I live, so she seems to especially talk about the forecast here. Regrettfully, it's also DITTO for most of ABC and NBC. I do watch the local FOX news station some. It's too bad when you can't depend on the bit stations to report things properly. Too bad, also, the same problems happens with newspapers. Why would anyone read the New York Times?

We do not need to bury our heads in the sand. War is ugly on all sides. It should not be sugar coated. God bless out troups. But I can't support Bush on the war.

I believe that the American people deserve to hear the truth. If more networks would stand up and broadcast the real truth about the Bush administration and what is happening in Iraq as well as here in our own country, George Bush wouldn’t have a prayer for re-election. The lies, deceits, and manipulations would be exposed for ALL to see. The old saying, “Don’t blame the messenger”, certainly applies here. The blame lies with those who are responsible for the abuse, and with the administration that put us there to begin with. Are you really so naďve to believe that if CBS hadn’t reported on the abuse, the beheaders wouldn’t have known about it? Or wouldn’t have found another reason to do it. Our nation had already lost credibility with the world, this was just the icing on the cake. Many in the Muslim world already hated us. Maybe we should ask ourselves why they hate us. Why are they so angry with us? Is this war truly a way to make peace with them, or will it give them more reasons to hate us? Are we responsible for their hate? Yes, we are responsible for electing leaders who give them reasons to hate us. I like to believe that if the American people really knew the truth behind the motivations of those leaders, they would choose NOT to elect them. It’s time we wake up and pay attention to what it really happening. We need MORE truth from the media, NOT less.

Most of us only look a little ways down the road when making political comments. Particularly those on the left of the political spectrum. During World War Two we fought against the so called Axis Powers and ultimately defeated them at great cost. After the war was over, we were involved in creating the United Nations. We all had high hopes that this organization would be the remedy for preventing any future aggression. Well, while there were high hopes at the start, it hasn't really proved to be so as history has clearly shown. It is really sad to see the frogs and krouts on the same side against the U.S. when it comes to stopping aggression by terrorist. The united nations was effective during the time when the allied powers were for the most part, basically in control of the U.N. Now we have all sorts of nations that are members of ther U.N. and their vote counts as much as our vote does in the general assembly. Of course they don't ever pay any assessment to the U.N. in the same ammounts as the United States does. We fund the U.N. all out of proportion to our population. The U.N. otherwise sits on its collective asses when it comes to doing anything about certain nations and terrorist ambitions who want to raise hell all over the world. The liberal wonks including the major news networks are akin to the ineffective U.N. in that they make their money here as capitalist, but seem to always take the liberal left slant on the news and consistantly promote leftist garbage in their news programs. We are at war. We are at war against something that has never been seen before in history in the same magnitude as we are presently observing. We did not go to war against Afganistan and Iraq just for the hell of it, or as a matter of government policy. The terrorist would be quite happy if they could kill every one of us while seeking their ends which is world domination. They are unfortunately using their religion to further their ends and dragging others of the same basic religious pursuasion down the same filthy, dirty, lying, killing road as they themselves are traveling. Now we have these people in this country who are so short sighted that they can't recognize where this road is leading to. The country is now polluted by smart asses like Jane Fonda and John Kerry who think it is cute to bad mouth their own nation and to hell with where it may be leading us to. I don't like war anymore than anyone else, but sometimes you just have to get up off your rear end and do something about those who would enslave you, or just kill you because they have this idea that they are somehow superior to the rest of us. The pre World War Two Japanese and German governments both suffered from this idea of superiority of their race over all others. The only funny part of these beliefs they held is that if it wasn't for the war time situation that drew them together in their Axis alliance, that they would have been loudly shouting that they were superior racially over the other. So now we have another group of superiority idiots out there claiming they are better than the rest of the infidels, meaning us, and they believe they have some sort of a God given approval to enslave, or kill the rest of us so called "infidels". The answer to the terrorist problem is certainly not in the minds of the liberal left and their fellow pinko travelers. The answer is certainly not in the slant the liberal left news agencies is always spouting. Patriotic feelings in support of our nation seem to be getting the short end of support by these leftist. Disgusting is certainly a good word to describe what has been happening in the national news reporting industry. "Truth", what in the hell is that they seem to be saying. I have virtually quit watching the other news networks because I can't believe the liberal, socialist, communist crap they are spouting these days. That also means that I don't see the advertisements their sponsors would like to have me look at and hear. The difference between what Fox News broadcast and the other networks spit out is that I get to hear and see something from both sides of the issues. The NPR stations like to let you actually hear what the liberal lefties are actually saying, and then they will tell you, but only in their own words what they think you ought to be hearing from the other side. So yes, I watch Fox news, because they seem to be a lot more honest in their reporting than the discredited other liberal news networks. So twenty one salutes for Pat Boone and his comments where he is telling it like it really is! To those who disagree, go suck a lemon.... H.R. Hughes

I think Mr. Boone is terribly misguided. Instead of focusing on CBS, he should be focusing on what in the world we are doing in Iraq. How did we get there and what are we doing there? If we weren't there, none of this would be happening. Everyone's son or daughter would be home, or at least in a place where we have a legitimate reason to be there. Afganistan comes to mind. According to my recollection of what happened, is that no one was relieved of duty until after the facts were made public. The military had gotten reports from prisoners of the mistreatment, but they were considered so bizarre that the reports were not fully investigated. It was only after the story was made public, that the reports were investigated again and only then were found to be true. I believe blame for this should go much higher than it will. The beheaders of Nick Berg would have used another excuse against the United States if CBS never aired the Abu Ghraib prison abuse. War is not a nice thing, and I hate it that Mr. Bush and Mr. Chaney were so eager to wage war on Iraq. After all, doesn't the presidential seal itself bear a rampant eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch? Facing the olive branch, the eagle chooses peace, while looking away from the arrows of war. War, to the eagle, is a last resort. I support our troops and wish them all to return home well, but I do not support Mr. Bush. The Bush administration and his supporters have gone way past the usual Republican vs. Democratic politics and are now, in my opinion, something akin to Neo Nazism or the KKK.

I agree completely with Pat Boones comments. Not everyone is going to be able to handle the responsibility of being in charge of other uncooperative human beings whom they hold in contempt without losing their humanity. In every war atrocities have been committed against prisoners by their wardens, regardless of race, creed, etc. As long as the perpetrators of this particular incidence were being dealt with by the miliary, I agree that while CBS or any media outlet had a duty to investigate, they should have backed off reporting it to the world when presented with the facts that it was being dealt with. Or worked with the military of the very country that affords them the luxury and freedom to investigate in the first place - to present the facts in a less sensational manner - and present only the "and these people have been dealt with" aspect. Thank you for posting this article - I intend to forward it to all my friends. LKT

I think President Bush has done a great job. How many people could take on what he has and still be sane. Because he has God on his side is the only way he could still be standing. I do believe that just about every news station is guilty. With the exception of a few. But, just give them time. You know, money and power is everything to so many people. Any body that has reported anything that caused harm to any of our service men and women, should have to go over there and fight the war until the end. This would be fair. This goes for all of Hollywood and any of the news media that has done harm to our Service men and women. They are not worthy of living in the United States. They do not deserve any protection. We need to sell them out for what ever we could get for them. Which would not be very much I'm sure. Maybe a two dollar bill. Further more, anybody that would vote for a man that has his picture hanging on the walls of the Communist Party, would have to be totally INSANE. Where do these people come from? It's beyond me. Maybe if President Bush would get him a Monica every body would be on his side. Start cheating, lying and staling every thing he can get his hands on. It seems the more corrupt you are the more popular you are with the people. This is such a shame. But, this is beginning to be the way so many American people want it. They think if you are good looking you are President material. Well, I'm sorry, but I never thought Clinton was good looking. But some of the young people did and this is why they voted for him. If this is not the joke of the century, just as he was. I was never so ashamed to be an American the eight years that he was playing president. And what ever else you might want to call it. This proves that so many people like corruption instead of good. And I think this also gives an idea how many people are against GOD and his word. All these people that's afraid that Prayer in the schools will go against somebody's religion. Well, how do you explain that one. If they are against GOD then how can they have religion? I think it's time AMERICANS take AMERICA back over. All these people with their rights. Just like a person murdering someone, they start yelling their rights. Well, in my book if you murder someone, you gave up your rights and have to suffer the consequences. An EYE for an eye. If the people don't start pulling back together and quit letting the so called Hollywood stars and news media's lead them by the nose, then we might as well call home and tell everybody we love them. People can be so smart and at the same time be so dumb. We need to all pray more for our President, Service men and women and our Country. And of course peace in all the other Countries. This is just a small piece of my mind and thoughts. GOD BLESS GEORGE W. BUSH AND FAMILY AND GOD BLESS AMERICA. STAY STRONG AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK THANK YOU. A. M. Of AMERICA

The press goes too far in reporting things about the government that should be kept secret. There are a lot of good things done in our country and I think we would all be better off if the press would concentrate some effort on reporting good rather than bad. They should remember that reporting good stuff makes everyone feel good.

i have always loved pat boone .. as a singer, an actor, but mostly for the example his life has been, and IS, to others .. .. not only should we boycott cbs news, we should boycott the rest of their programming as well .. the same for all the other networks who think nothing of stretching, bending, slanting and flat-out lying about the facts .. concerning ANY news coverage .. this is not 1950 .. there is plenty of other programming available to us today .. .. scrolling down the comments submitted, i counted over 100 before even the half-way mark on my screen .. stopped there because my eyes were crossing .. :) .. point is .. in just a matter of hours, 100's of your readers responded to this page .. most, favorably .. .. can you find a way to send, oh, maybe a week's worth of these comments to mr boone, to president bush and to all those networks who allow their news 'reporters' to editorialize instead of report? ALL AMERICANS, including the news media, need to remember that with every freedom comes a corresponding responsibility .. .. elaine jones, tennessee

Pat Boone hit the nail on the head. I have three children that we like to have watch the news and learn about what is going on in the world. This ended with the CONSTANT talk of what Clinton was doing. And then when they showed on the news the "up to the last second" beheading of the journalist over in Iraq, we were devastated! My son had so many questions! I agree with Mr. Boone. The news stations should report news not add to the trouble our troops are having over there. FOX is our choice of news station also. And as for all of the celebrities bashing Bush, I feel they are being very crude and embarrassing. Our country stood together 3 years ago, we need to do the same again.

Viva Pat Boone. Why can't we all see how the news media's are the ones we should be at war with. They report things just to get their ratings. How many kids have died because of what was reported on TV, or newspapers. These kids went off to try and copy the event. Some of us do not want to know about all those things. The war is being blamed of President Bush, but I think he is doing a grand job. Let us put the blame where it belongs, and I think Pat Boone has done that.God Bless America, Our President, all of our people in uniforms that are making this country free for all. My wife and I once met Pat Boone in San Antonio. We also met his lovely daugther, Debbie, several years later. They are without a doubt some of the finest Christians we have ever met. Thanks, Mr. Boone, for your comments. I have read many of the comments posted by others responding to this beautiful artical by Mr. Boone. I agree with every word Mr. Boone writes. If we would all join in boycotting CBS, NBC, CNN, the liberal press, as well as those who advertise in those liberal news agencies, I believe we might bring about some change. Add to that proposal, boycotting most of the movies produced by the radical liberals in Hollywood. Yes, we do live in the best country in the world where we enjoy many freedoms, among which is the freedom of speech and freedom of the press. However, there are penalties also for abusing those freedoms, e.g., pornography is a violation of expression. When the so-called "stars" of Hollywood can call our President, regardless of who he is, a "liar" or a "Nazi" simply because they don't agree with how he is leading our nation, it is wrong and should be punishable. Those are the same people who call former President Clinton their friend even after he desecrated the Oval Office and lied about "not having sex" with Monica. I never have had any respect for radical Whoopy Goldberg. I say stop going to the movies and making their enormous salaries possible. By the way, compare how long we heard in the liberal news media about the terrible things in that prison in Iraq to the brief time we heard about Clinton's escapades. Stop your paper; quit going to the movies; change the channel; boycot! boycot! boycot! Boycotting will work. Support the Fox network and those medias who are more responsible in their use of the freedom of expression. God bless America!. God bless our President, Mr. Powell; Mr. Rumsfeld; Ms. Rice and our men and women in the uniforms of our great nation. And join me in praying for peace in the world and the downfall of the liberal radicals in the media.

CBS has always been the "enemy within" since at least the 1960's. I remember the extreme dislike fellow Vietnam correspondents had for several key CBS reporters when I talked with them in the Fall, 1970. They were known as the "Communist Broadcasting Company" both here at home and abroad. If you remember their "Selling (Shelling) of the Pentagon" story, well covered by Accuracy in Media in either the late 60's or early 70's, you know what I mean. The people at CBS always go for stories that degrade, undermine, and destroy the esssence of America. In a perfect world, there would be no My Lai or Abu Graib but this is not a perfect world, and our enemies know it. They know that they can count on CBS, and now CNN, among others, to feature the worst of something that involves America, rather than putting it into a proper context. I'm not advocating censorship, only responsible journalism. How does Abu Graib compare to the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis found in mass graves throughout their country? And there will be more mass graves uncovered. Only last week they found another mass grave in Bosnia, almost 10 years after the war ended, and if one had access to Darfar, Sudan, or the mountainous areas of South Vietnam, you would find more mass graves. If it were not for America, most of Europe would have been turned into one mass grave, a cemetary of many nations far beyond what we uncovered at Auschwitz (where my relatives died) or Buchenwald or the Katyn Forest. [Once in a while I wish the French would remember this too, not only CBS]. America is not perfect but we are the greatest liberator of mankind, the greatest force for freedom the world has ever seen. The American military has been the savior of freedom but some in the media treat it as though it were a plague on mankind. I'm proud of our country. I'm proud of my father-in-law (three Purple Hearts in WW2, including Iwo Jima, my father who also served in WW2 and of my son Joshua, Operation Iraqi Freedom, last year. They were not torturers, baby-killers, mass murderers, oppressors, or the rapacious hordes of Ghengis Khan. They represented the best of America, the best of the fighters for freedom. It is about time that CBS, CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the L. A. Times began to realize it and to report about it. It is time that the scales of reporting tipped in America's favor. We have paid too much blood to be smeared by our own media as the "enemy" instead of Al Quaeda, Saddam Hussein, Joe Stalin, and Ho Chi Minh. The internet has given the average American the ability to comment and critique the media as never before. It can become a powerful instrument in reforming a profession that is often regarded as highly as lawyers and prostitutes. And as a professional writer for over 35 years, I feel that the media today is worse than it was before the advent of cable television and the internet. The quality of some key media organizations has deteriorated into an America-bashing contest, and often they refuse to print or run comments by those who point this out. The internet has become the alternative voice of reform or of advocating reform by showing where it is needed. This comments section is one way to say something that the New York Times, Wash. Post, or CBS will never let out into the light of day, the truth. I encourage others to join in and to work to make America's media more responsible and more balanced. Max Friedman, MACV-accredited correspondent in So. Vietnam (and Cambodia), Fall, 1970, for Human Events weekly

I was in Vietnam, although I did not see any of the artrocities that has so eloquently been expressed the fact remains that we are at war. Come on folks, get real ! What did Hitler do to the Jews, what have all these rogue nations done to the prisoners of war. You dont have to look that far back to see what war will do to a nation. Our soldiers have acted graciously while dealing with people who would and will kill their own. Who amoung you would stand by and allow these things to happen if you had the power to change it? My thoughts are to leave the military alone, stay out of their business and let them get on with the protection of our democracy - No matter if we hurt some poor foreigner's feelings - My God what would these same misfits do to us were the situation changed. (cut off heads, rape, pillage and burn homes)_ How far away from Baghdad do you have to get to see this happening in their own society. Wake up, stop complaining and let the Patriots run the show. Isn't it amazing how other countries can condemn us when they; themselves are covering worse than we would ever commit? Why is it so long and wrong for the US to do something like this and ohhhhhhh so O.K. when the rest are doing it.? Sorta makes you wonder doesn't it. Finally to close - just think how much more this country would appreciate of those "hired protestors" volunteering their time and effort to go running around in the desert of Iraq - chasing the militants instead of trying to become one of the same over here. Just my thoughts - I served in Vietnam and feel that I earned the right to express myself.

I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Boone's comments. The major news channels and commentators have definitely given 'aid and comfort to the enemy.' Having grown up during WWII and having to read all news in the papers, I can agree with comments that 'Loose lips sink ships.' What would have been the result of the Normandy invasion if the papers - and readers - had been told the plans of the invasion? Americans had better open their eyes and minds to what is being spewed forth as 'news' on these channels. A most heartfelt 'Thank You' to Mr. Boone for having the courage to speak out about the abuses of the major networks. God Bless the United States of America and the courage of the American troops under the fire of not only Iraqi rebels but liberal news channels. A proud flag-waving citizen from IL.

I agree with Pat Boone's comments 100%. Responsible journalism should be the aim of every reporter and their employers. Far too often the media seems to be reporting on events, whether they be wars, investigations, crimes and giving their opinions on these matters irrespective of whether their comments are responsible and prudent or just bringing themselves down to the slimey ranks of the gutter-press. If they are being contemptuous or breeching security, they should be charged with contempt and treason. No person or organisation is above the law - why should the media regard themselves as excluded from this fact.

What our liberal media has done to our country is nothing less than an atrosity which the enemy has used to punish our fellow Americans...... Is this history repeating itself? as when Kerry came home, testified about atrosities during Viet Nam and destroyed his medals - the prisoners of war at that time were punished because of hearing this...... I also find it a bit confusing when I hear Kerry blaming 911 on Pres. Bush. Clinton had been in office for eight years - Bush for a few months - Is that not like comparing apples and oranges. Another confusing factor is the story of Bush sending all the businesses overseas - like he personal had a hand in it. If I heard my facts correctly - it is the Heinz (his wife)company that Kerry also owns, who have sent soo many of the Heinz factories overseas. How exactly did Mr. Bush make him do this?

Do you think we should hide from the world our shameful conduct because its not as bad as their slaughtering of others? Remaining above reproach is the high road. We claim to be on the high road and we shouldnt get upset at CBS or anyone else when we're called on it. Fox is considered World News and should not be used for U.S. propaganda. CNN the same. And so for CBS or any other global news media outlets. Its wrong to think they should all have a U.S. bias even though they are world news organizations. Truthful reporting, and being a watchdog of governments and their policies is what makes their reporting credible to the whole world and not just our little part of it. Especially if conservatives are after the New World Order as I hear the Bush's talk about. I would say that Mr. Berg would have been beheaded for another reason if not for the excuse they used for doing so. You have to know by now what kind of people we're dealing with. They killed thousands on 911. Was CBS to blame for this also? At what point does Government become responsible? I'm sure some would say "Not until the Democrats take the over the white house."

I'm really disappointed that you would publish this article on your DeerLake website!! I enjoy your website; however, I don't think, in fairness to your viewers, you should publish favoritism. It is not difficult to determine Boone's political affiliation!! If you are of one party, you will most likely watch FOX news; if you are the other party, you will most likely watch CBS. THEY GIVE YOU WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR!! How about keeping an "Open Mind", view various networks, check for "truths", and determine a fact-established conclusion. There are too many issues which need to be considered in the forth-coming election! Lois/MN

Thank you for printing these comments by Pat Boone. I have been so disgusted with most of the media people. Most of them are out to feather their own nest and as the stories which are the most shocking get the greatest coverage; that is what they write, put in the paper or report on TV. I appauld Pat Boone for writing this letter. If more American would start to voice their displeasure in the way that news is reported. We would see a vast change in what is reported. It's not about the content of the news, it about making dollar & cents. Well, those dollar that they make on reporting about Abu Ghraib prison has Nick Berg's blood & every person that is & will be killed on it. I hope each time they spend these dollars for the luxury that is afforded to them by reporting their stories. They remember that they are responsible for the heartaches that these families are suffering.

Bravo to Mr. Boone. To a clear thinking American, it is obvious that we are being told too much in some areas of this terrible conflict and not enough in others. How much have you read about the good things that are happening in Iraq? The schools that are open with new books, provided by us; the basic living conditions that are available for most, the new construction of homes and businesses, with new businesses opening up, etc.? Do you not wonder if there is more normalcy than reported? Instead, the reporters are too busy planning the strategy for the armies, reporting the details of the suffering, and telling of the horrors the Americans are committing. And do you realize that the crowds of anti-war protestors are mostly all young people, who have only "heard" about wars in their short lifetime? How many of the older generation, who have actually fought and lived through other wars, demonstrate? The current press seem to be too interested in selling their papers, and certainly not too interested in helping our service men fight this war. Anyone of any intelligence knows that you do not educate the enemy with your attack plans, and with all of the electronics of this age, that means keeping those plans secret, especially from the public. And that includes news that the enemy can use against us!!!!

I agree completely with Pat Boone. After reading all of the other comments, it makes me proud of our citizens. It's reassuring to read all the favorable and up-beat comments of people who are truly thankful that we have a true Christian leading our country. The liberals are scared to death that there is a chance that more of our citizens may actually turn back to Christ and the principles our country was founded on. I have to say this: tune in and listen to Dr. James Kennedy, a Presbyterian minister. He is bravely and boldly on a crusade for Christian revival. God is the only one who can save our country. Having Godly men in our government will not save us....but, it will help. I applaud Pat Boone, and pray that more will come forward. P.S. If Pat Boone was right, and he is extremely to the right, and the military was investegating and removed some of the individuals committing the crimes against the Iraqui prisoners then why were the worst perpetrators still not removed from their positions and prosecuted? Because the military wasn't doing anything about it. Besides the real reason the Arab world hates us and the rest of the world holds us in contempt is because our administration lied to us and for the first time in our history we declared war and invaded a country that had not committed a crime against the U.S.A. If you hear a lie often enough you will believe it and most of you are victims of that. There is sufficent information available to believe that the Bush administration entered office wanting to invade Iraq. We've been had. Conservatives think the best way we can safeguard our freedom is by curtailing our freedom.

The Media is so liberal in its coverage of all aspects of the news, but to put in harms way our fine young military personal is unthinkable. There will always be a few bad apples around and I guess the press loves or thinks it sells time and paper, but they are acting irresponsably. We need to keep praying that someday they too will see the error of their ways. However, we too need to put the pressure on them to be resonsible for what they print and write our own letters to let them know. Thank you again. Betty N.

It seems that almost everything lately is money driven, from health care and oil prices to food and clothing. The media and especially CBS will do anything if it will result in higher ratings.Frankly I could care less about the ratings. I am not totally in favor of the war in Iraq but we are there and every effort should be made to help, protect, and support our troops. They put their lives on the line by just being over there. If the people at CBS think what they did by showing those pictures was good journalism then I hope that are happy with the "30 pieces of silver"

If we take the pictures of the naked prisoners and lay them beside the photo of the burning bodies hanging from the bridge or perhaps the headless bodies which would CBS choose to use. The answer is all of them. The fifth estate and not only CBS have put ratings and thusly financial income ahead of ethics. Unfortunately as the American public lets those images and convincing words into their lives bit by bit the TV, news papers and magazines numb the very essence of what makes us US citizens. If the reporters repeat something often enough we begin to accept it and finally believe it. No human being on this earth is perfect and our elected leaders are trying as best they know to lead this country. Perhaps we should find a way to lay out the charred and torn bodies of 9-11 from both the Twin Towers and the Pentagon and lay those beside that of the "abused" prisoners. How soon we forget, funny how the reporters don't want to talk about "Where did all the Scuds and launchers go?" But if you think about it just how many of them were captured and in the hands of the US led forces. If they could make all of the Scuds and their support equipment disappear, what else could they have put with them? Interesting question but the reporters find no sizzle in that story. A GI gone wrong sells. Money or ethics seems to be the question and unfortunately they again took the short and easy road for immediate ratings and of course "Show me the money!" Shame on them.

I agree with Pat Boone. CBS is so ridiculous. I will never forget the interview that Dan Rather had with President George Herbert Walker Bush ( the current president's father) He crucified the President on the air. My husband and I both sat there with our mouths open, not believing the disrespect for the leader of our country, who was an honest and upright man. We have not watched CBS news or any news program since! And I certainly won't again. I get my news from the Christian network online, or from Pat Robertson's program, and I watch Fox some. But I never watch NBC, ABC, Or CBS! It is so very slanted toward only the liberal. You never get the other side. If you want to know the positive and good things that are happening, you have to go to the Christian news online. We never hear the good things! And there are lots of good things happening. Thanks for the opportunity to express myself on these issues.

I feel very strongly that the news media is out to make a mountain from a mole hill and it is done each day. Yes , there can be things that we wish had not happened but after it has happened do we need to know every small detail?? I think not. Some things we are better off not knowing until it has been checked out and if there is something that needs to be done, do it. Then we can be told. I feel that the news is slanted according to the reporter's view, not what might be correct. I feel many times we only hear part of the story and as Paul Harvey states we need to hear " the rest of the story." Frankly, I do not believe a lot of the reports we hear each day. When you see pictures on tv there will be people in the background just meandering around and I think if I knew someone would shoot me in a short time, I would not be on the street. After a general begged them not to, because of the horrendous consequenses of such reporting, the filth had to go on and do it for his own personal gain. I agree with Pat Boone and have made similar comments on several web site opinion poles since CBS made its blunder. Freedom of the press, yes. Abuse of that freedom, no. I think that in times of war the government and the military should censor the news. Too many reporters who can't or don't use good judgement put our troops in jeopardy. (Ever wonder how the networks can show news clips of the enemy firing rockets or attacking our troops, from within their midst?? ) CBS and the other networks are so intent on bashing Bush in any way they can, that they have lost sight of what's important especially for the safety of our troops. I stopped watching CBS news and even our local CBS affiliate. In my estimation the first ammendment has been stretched, bent, and twisted as much as should be allowed. It has gone far beyond what is righteous, just and ethical. Then, again, ratings and newspaper sales are gotten by sensationalism.....real or tarnished. When was the last time you read something good in the papers ??

Thank you for showing Mr. Boone's letter. I have for years felt the TV news media has been more a hinderance than help. They have many times shown how to make various bombs. Of course, now you can find that on the Internet. I do wish, however, they would stop using the word 'terrorist' and use the proper description 'murdering cowards'. It is murder, without question. So many times things are being noticed and corrected in the background as Mr. Boone states in his letter, but media gets a hint of same and feels all the world should know. Not necessarily. Though the murderers express hatred for America, they have the many conveniences of television and other modern technological things and are seeing and hearing the same things we are. I watch the news sparingly. The two men who were caught planning the bombing of a subway in New York this weekend lived in the city. If so many hate America, why are they so eager to come here and once here stay. (I found the bombing information on my Internet news page, not TV. On my page I can chose what I wish to read). May God bless our service people who have to endure this hatred while trying to preserve our rights. With freedom and rights go responsibility, and some of the media seem to have forgotten that. Thank you for this opportunity. I do not use foul language. If you people are so interested in what the Americans think, then take a look around you. The Americans are suffering from The Presidents actions , not because of CBS. I'm sure that you feel the only truth comes from Fox news. George W. Bush is the worst thing that has happened to this country during my lifetime. For eight years Bill Clinton was under fire from your right wing friends. Can you imagine the news if his child was like the Bush girls?. Can you imagine the news if Hillary killed a young man when she was a teenager?. The Bush family doesnt like the public to hear about his family. Not the truth anyway. Wrap yourself in the American flag, and claim that you are Christian people. Many people see right through your very thin disguise. Let Americans get starved out because of lack of jobs, and the lack of insurance. But, we must rebuild Iraq and fatten the people like those that are working to reconstruct the country. Why dont they care as much about the people of this country. The list is endless. Yes, blame CBS but you point your finger at the wrong people.

I think the Iraq people who have watched Sadam Husseun rape, cut, mutulate, cut off hands, cut off arms (and other parts), would disagree with one writer that we should not be there and we've destroyed their lifestyle. They are very happy to have us there and to have captured that thug and killer that has terrorized them for many years (proof is the mass graves of bodies uncovered). The only people in Iraq who want us to go away are the terrorists themselves who don't want peace in their land as war and terror is their only way of life even teaching it to the young children. God Bless President Bush for not being a wimp like past Presidents. Kerry will let the terrorists take over this Country if he's elected. Let's put the blame where it REALLY belongs. None of this would have happened if the Islamic terrorist had not been attacking us since 1979. A few would blame America for all the world's problems. It is simply a lie. As for Iraq, President Bush believed and said the same things every leader in the USA and the world said. I know of not one Intelligence agency that was saying Iraq had NO weapons of mass destruction. As a matter of fact, None are saying even now that Iraq had NO WMD. They had used WMD just a few years previous on their own citizens. There is NO proof they did not have it when they started the war by continual violations of the cease-fire of the last Iraq war. I seriously doubt the honesty of those who would defend America's enemies. Put the blame where it belongs, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, most in Hollywood and on the National Socialist (Liberals).

Pat Boone is correct on all counts but I want to go one step more. Doesn't it seem strange to all of you that all the major media, ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN sound like they are reading off the same identical page. Remember gravitas when the President ran the first time? All of the talking heads on each outlet used the word repeatedly. Now let's go one more step. I don't believe the anti-U.S.diatribes are just bias for the sake of being different. Years and years ago the Commies said they would wiggle into sensitive areas and subvert this country. They tried to take over the Screen Actors Guild in the 1950's and Ronald Reagan stopped them, but no one has been able to stop their infiltration into the news media. Harry Truman said that Communists in the State department was a red herring, but we now know that the place had more shades of red than a box of crayons. The news helped subvert the truth about Viet Nam along with John Kerry's traitorus speech and acts. They are doing the same thing with Iraq. Is it all because they are liberals? Is it by design to overthrow this nation? You draw your own conclusions.

I read ALL the comments and I am encouraged to see that the far greater number are in favor of what Pat Boone had to say. My husband and I watch primarily Fox News, sports events, special events like the Olympics and the rest of TV is truly not fit to watch. The morals, language, content and slant (liberal) programing is a total "turn off."......Sorry to say, we look at the political map of the blue/red and we can see the 50% split in our country. It is a representation of the mores' in our society. I am in my late 60's, a Christian and I see such change in our culture in the past 50 years. It is shocking!!! Illegal immigration, the trend for tolerance in all venues and the trashing of family cohesiveness contribute to much of our societal problems. The churches and schools and parents that once were the glue that kept everyone on the right track have abdicated responsibility. We are raising children that are observing all this and they accept abberant behavior as the norm. I feel we are in deep trouble as a society. I firmly believe it will take much prayer to bring this nation back to a "NATION UNDER GOD." A concerned citizen of the land of plenty......Jean Miller, Columbus,Georgia

Like what the news media is doing to President Bush. I am 60 this year, and I remember growing up in this country when everyone supported the President, even if they did not totally agree with everything he did. I absolutely agree and wanted to express that opionion for some time. I further believe that when such a breach of trust occurres, They ought to be severely fined and put on probation for an extended period and if ever it happens again lose their right to exist. The very best ally our enemy has is our irresponsible press along with those in congress who would ''sell their soul''for a bowl of political porridge. We are at war and we ought to be pulling together . I believe this thing in Iraq would be well on its way to conclusion if the factions over there were convinced we were united to win. BUT everybody has their own little agenda and could not care less about the people who have their lives on the line!SHAME-SHAME on those monday morning quarterbacks who know all the answers. It takes no genius to know what might have been more usefull eons after the fact. Remember, most of these politicians who now are giving hope to the enemy, voted to go after them in congress. They wanted to be in position to claim victory if all went well. The resulting conflict requires more committment than first thought, so now the slippery politicians are saying " I voted to send troops BUT I would have done it the right way" OF COURSE--Their way. They should have been so-o smart when it could have been useful. If the USA is plagued by selfish politicians and slanderous news media ---We are doomed to crumble from the inside out. It won't take any special outward powerful force or country. I hope we get our act together--I love America !

I am so refreshed by Pat Boone's words. He has nailed the truth of Abu Graibe and CBS. Sadly, our news is contaminated with lies and spin. But we are enlightened by people like Pat Boone and courageous talk show hosts like Rush, Sean, Glenn, etc., -- and the Fox Cable News Network -- all of whom devote their airtime to untangling the lies that are fed to us by all the other print and broadcast outlets. The good news is that I believe the truth is winning and will prevail. As more and more people learn they are being deceived by traditional news outlets, they will turn away and seek the truth. Look what is happening with the few ads the Swift Boat Vets for Truth have run. Because of them, the dishonest military history of Kerry, which the media embraced, is imploding! The country of Iraq had a well organized government and economy. Based on [evidently]poor reports to Pres. Bush, the USA attacked and destroyed the Iraq society, government and economy. The Iraq people now are in the midst of civil war that can be blamed on what our military has done. The military was only doing what they were ordered to do. Actually, it might be a good idea to fire them all and the heads of the news departments and start anew with a staff that knows how to report ALL of the news in an unbiased way.....afterall, we should be able to form our own opinions based on UNBIASED news reporting.

This will be very short and to the point. As a Vietnam Vet. I feel this way although the people here need to know what is going on in a war. And the families are worried about sons and daughters and look for any means possible to here news. I feel that the media should be kept out of it. We have good leaders and when the media gets in and publishs pictures of what is going on it just demoralizes the true meaning of what is happening. I think that we as a people should not judge until all the facts are presented. Also do we see any photos of what the enemy is doing to our soulders that are captured. I just wonder about how they are being treated. I think really with all the coverage that was in Vietnam that is why we lost the war there. Too much politics and news coverage. And that is not the place when people lives are in danger daily. Keep the press at home.

What is frightening is not represented solely by CBS and the liberal media, but the corruption of the educational elites, who in turn have given us generations, such as the person who called us the right wing, closed mind, anti-intellectual group. So at a time of life when a young person should be learning, and exploring, and comparing - they come away with the outlook of so many in our country today. Where the only people they fear are christians, patriots, and law abiding people. Any behavior or perversion is accepted. But in the name of tolerance, we are the only groups feared and detested. And shouted down for trying to speak in our own behalf. The only leaders they abhor are Jefferson, Columbus, and the like. Evidentally they don't hate Hitler, they only use him in order to compare him to our presently elected politicians. I served 5 years in the service during the Korean war, was in Korea, and later sent to Vietnam after the French defeat at Dien Bien Phu. I have nothing but contempt for Kerry, and what he did after his four month tour in Vietnam upon his return to America. By painting all servicemen as butchers. And the only time the people like the above acknowledge butchery is when they claim it is done by an American. No other examples are acknowledged.

War is War and just about anything will happen in time of war, however, I do not think CBS should have shown the photos talked about in this report, but it being "freedom of press" they had the right to show the photos, yet, good judgement from the management of CBS should have taken into consideration what the results would have been. I do not believe I have seen the photos, but I have been told what they were and my statements hold to what I have already said about them. Mabel Gentry P.O. I feel the news media as a whole is showing to much of the ACTION blow by blow I have been in the Vietnam Conflict and 2 other deployments and feel that the news media show everything they can get there hands on is not for the general public to see, because most have not a military background and do not under stand the wages of war. All I have seen on the little television I do watch is the negetive and gruesome parts. There are many good things happening in Iraq we do not here about, but that does not do ratings any good and does not sell newspapers. LLL Minnesota.

I get so very tired of what the United States is doing "wrong". It seems to me that all these people, who are trying their best to under mine the President and the militar for doing their job, shold be over there doing the job these men and women are doing. Sit in the seat of the President and look at what is happening from that point of view. May be then they would see things in a different light. I am a daughter-mother of the Army and it seems that every time there is a critic. When I say what those people being miss treated I wanted to cry. What if this was happening to our people? What would you do? I have always thought that the press had to much freedom. It is high time that they were controled. Every time they put any thing on the news you know that the enemy is going to see it or hear about it. How do you ezplain the reason we have not captured Osama ben Laudin. It is just the very thing they are watching. He sees or hears about the news telling where we are looking for him and all he has to do is to move from place to place. Can we just be a little smarter than every one else. We fight for the free rights of every one and when our country is being threatened. Not every word heard by the press needs to be put in print. Prior to reading these comments I had already agreed with them. I have always felt the media wants to run the show not caring at what cost. They have not for a long time, cared who it hurt, whether America, one individual, etc. It is like telling someone a secret that should not have been repeated and they were dying to tell it first. I feel the media should be imprisioned , fined and barred from the media when jeporadizing our country and this also includes ensuing court trials on information that should not be released.

I can add nothing to so many of the comments that I have read. My Grandfather fought in WWI and my Dad in WWII and I shudder to think where America would be now if the media had been so callously indifferent to those that were fighting and laying their lives on the line for the very freedoms that our media is now using to effectively kill our brave service people and cause so much dissension within our wonderful country. 9-11 was only the beginning of what we are now & will be facing more of in the future. They are not only biased in their reporting but they have all forgotten that freedom is not free. Freedom was bought for us at a very high price and we all have a responsibility to protect it in both words and deeds. I'm certain in my own heart that not one of those that reported from the war front or in their plush comfortable places here at home ever gave a split seconds thought to how many of our military, that what they were about to report, would die from their irresponsible, and heartless words. How many lives are the ratings worth? Would they be so willing to report these things & sensationalize them if each one of them had a son or daughter that would be put directly in the grave from what they reported? I hear people asking God to bless America. Does no one stop to think that God has already blessed America? He was there with our founding fathers when they drafted our Constitution; He has been with us all of the time, through thick & thin, even when we have turned our back on Him. It is time that America bless God, by following His Word & returning to a moral & ethical way of life. War is not a preferred method of solving problems, but it is sometimes the only way. I can only say that if we get a person (Notice I didn't say man) in the White House that not only has stood up against his country, but also has taken away what he keeps saying should stay in the USA; ie. jobs and business, where will our economy be in 4 years? He & his wife have more business outside of the country than most people know. My opinion about any one that would publicly put down his country goes for anyone of any party. I also believe that Cheney should leave the vice presidency after his public remarks that were a slap in the face to our President and all of those that still believe in marriage as it is and has always been for a man & a woman. An old Texan who still votes for the person, not the party!!!

Too many people today believe the right way in their hearts, but are intimidated and afraid to speak out for it. We must never be too shy to tell the world what we believe to be true. I do believe that other television, radio and newspaper reporters are respondible for the same treasonous acts as CBS and, I pray, that they will someday see the error of their ways and start responsible reporting again. A lot of people seem to have forgotten the responsibilities. Thank goodness for the FOX news channel. Now I know that we have others with the same view points I have. Until Fox came along, I thought I was the only person who remembered good manners, civility, truthfulness, honor, pride in Country, two sides to a story, etc. My late husband served in the Army Air Force (yes, there was such a thing) in WWll, my son and son-in-law both served in the Navy when this war on terror first started in Iran, when they took all our hostages. We are in total agreement with this anouncement. The freedom of speech has gone too far--our sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, grandparents, etc., have given their lives to stand for freedom of every kind, but to abuse that freedom is a plot to take away hope for our God given rights and to destroy faith in God, all mankind and our leaders that we, the people, elected. We, also, will help to make a stand against this kind of abuse of our airways, by shutting it off. We are even cancelling our newspaper because it has become so liberal and obviously, prejudiced against our President. But there is really only one way we can fight the enemy the most,(who is not the Iraqians, Arabs, our President, our neighbors, CBS or any man anywhere---It is non other than our enemy from before the Garden of Eden--up there in Heaven, Lucifer, with his plot to try to turn the hearts of human beings against our one and only God, the Lord Jesus Christ. So, the answer to all this fighting, is to unite in PRAYER, (the greatest weapon ever formed), trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, (the real Word and Truth,) and combat this war against powers and principalities of darkness, love one another and read the end of THE BOOK----we win!!! Halelujah---the game is rigged!--Christ wins--He did it ALL at the Cross! Thank you, Lord and have mercy on us all. We have ALL sinned and come short of the glory of God. We will not throw stones at anyone--, but we will not support man made systems that were designed and are being used to hurt one another, if we can help it and pray that we have the discernment enough to know the difference. God bless you, Reg and Charline Plett--Flagstaff, Arizona

I've thought all along that the present News Media is basicly against the United States and publishes items that they should not while we are presently involved in this War on Terrorist. We can all see it does help the enemy as they see it as our News Media on their side. The Media (including CBS) even tells where we'll attack, when Colin Powell or Rumsfield will be arriving in Iraq and things that should not be told until AFTER THE FACT; another reason President Bush flew into Iraq secretly, which really irritated the Press. Maybe they'd rather have told the world so he'd be a target while he was there since the Press is Democratic anyway and wants nothing more than to beat Bush in the next election. K. Johnston

As a retired combat veteran of BOTH Korea (17 months) and VietNam (12 months) {NOT 4 Months}, I could not have improved on Mr. Boone's remarks. I have personal experience in VietNam where media reporting was absolutely false and inaccurate. The most blaring example was the Feb 1968 Tet offensive where our military absolutely decimated the VC - that was the greatest tactical military victory of the entire VietNam episode, and yet because our all knowing media (like Kronkite) declared Tet a defeat, it became so in the minds of politicians and some of the public. As a result, we did a France after Dien Bien Phu and tucked tail and ran. Result - hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese and Montagnards were killed and the nation today suffers under a totalarian dictatorship. The U.S. Military today must fight both the terrorists AND the Anti-American national media. If ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR, CNN and PBS have their way, we sill surrender our soverignty to the United Nations, bowiing to China, France, Germany, Russia and all the rest of the third world countries

I agree one hundred percent with Pat Boone. We ARE at war! During war, terribel things happen. Wasn't what happened at the Twin Towers horrible? Wasn't what happened at the Pentagon horrible? Are we supposed to just roll over and let all of these horrible things happen to us without any reprisal? I for one am proud of all of our military people and applaud the job they are doing to keep us free and able to express our opions without any fear. We should all be praying for peace, but more so for the people who put their lives on the line for us. Someday, hopefully, wise men will figure out that war isn't the answer, but until then, we must do what has to be done. The media is more worried about money and ratings than about lives. They would be the first ones to cry and moan if these freedoms were taken away. In their own way, they are paving the way for this to happen. If I thought I could do better than President Bush, then I would run for office. As far as programs such as 60 Minutes, I stopped watching those type programs some years ago due to their biased and prejudiced reporting. Most reporters are only tyring to increase ratings and created sensationalism!! It is about time we have more "RESPONSIBLE JOURNALISM"! What about the torture and annihilation of thousands of Jews by Germany??? That, now, is torture!! A few naked bottoms????? We were born naked!! AS AN AN AMERICAN CITIZEN AND I MUST SAY WITH 2 NEPHEWS OVER THERE I WAS APPALLED WITH THIS TOO. WE HAVE A PRESIDENT TRYING TO DO HIS VERY UPMOST FOR OUR COUNTRY AND WE HAVE THE MEDIA AND OTHERS WHO WOULD RATHER SEE THE WAR OVER HERE THAN OVER THERE WHEN THEY SPEAK WITHOUT THINKING. I WAS RAISED IN A DEMOCRAT HOME BUT THAT HAS ALL CHANGED WITH MY WHOLE FAMILY SINCE WE KNOW TOO MUCH OF JOHN CAREYS WAR RECORD. YOU SEE, MY BROTHER AND COUSIN WAS WITH HIM IN VIET NAM. ALTHOUGH THEY HAD TO STAY THEIR FULL TERM EVEN AFTER MY COUSIN BEING WOUNDED MUCH MORE THAN A SCRATCH ON HIS HAND AS CAREY DID AND HE CERTAINLY DIDN'T RECEIVE A PURPLE HEART FOR HIS WOUNDS. NOR DID MY BROTHER WHO TO THIS DAY WILL NOT TALK ABOUT HIS EXPERIENCE OVER THERE. PLUS CHECK OUT JUST HOW LONG CAREY STAYED OVER THERE. I FOLLOWED HIS WHEREABOUTS WHEN THEY LET HIM COME HOME AND HE JOINED FORCES WITH PEOPLE WHO WAS CALLING OUR U.S. SOLDIERS STILL THERE MURDERERS. I REMEMBER HIS PROTEST BACK THEN. AS USUAL MONEY TALKS. CHECK OUT HIS AND HIS WIFES BUSINESSES OVER SEAS AND HER AFFILIATIONS WITH SOME OF THE MOST AWFUL PEOPLE TO THIS DAY. NO----THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL ANNOUNCEMENT. JUST A CITIZEN WHO IS FED YP WITH THE MEDIA AND THE WAY THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE BEING LED TO BELIEVE THAT THEY CAN DO BETTER. IT'S LIKE THE SAYING ' BE CAREFUL FOR WHAT YOU ASK FOR, YOU MIGHT JUST GET IT ' THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TO MAKE THIS COMMENT, AND I URGE EVERY SINGLE U.S. CITIZEN TO CHECK OUT BOTH FAMILIES AND BACKGROUND OF THIS FAMILY. THANK YOU AND MAY GOD BE IN CONTROL. ANOTHER LAMBLAST IS DICK CHENEY ANNOUNCING ON T.V. A COUPLE OF DAYS THAT HE IS NOT AGAINST SAME SEX MARRIAGES BECAUSE THEY HAVE A LESBIAN DAUGHTER. NOW ISN'T THAT PRETTY. WE NEED TO BE IN PRAYER FOR PRESIDENT BUSH BECAUSE THIS TOO IS A SLAP IN THE FACE TO HIM. IT SEEMS SO MANY PEOPLE DON'T AND WON'T READ THE BIBLE TO SEE HOW OVER 2000 YEARS AGO. ALL THIS WAS PREDICTED. EXPLAIN THAT. IF THEY WANT THAT LIFESTYLE THATS THEM, BUT THEY SHOULD SHUT UP AND LEAVE THAT SMUT, FILTH AND SIN OUT OF THE LIMELIGHT WHEN OUT CHILDREN ANBD GRANDCHILDREN HAVE ENOUGH TO DEAL WITH. SIN IS SIN, SO LET THEM FACE GOD WITH THAT AND LEAVE THE REST OF US ALONE. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALLOWING ME TO GET THIS OFF MY CHEST. AN ILLINOIS U.S. CITIZEN

Mr. Boone stated exactly what my whole family has been saying ever since 911. We do not have the right to know everything that goes on during a war. We won the second world war partly because we were not giving the enemy information through the media. We would have been traitors should that have happened. I love my freedoms but abetting the enemy is not a freedom we need to share and should be punished still. Rosetta Fuller Conroe, Tx

How beautifully well stated. It was bad enough in the Gulf War that the media allowed the greedy reporters to endanger the lives of out men by reporting positions, plans and purpose just so they could get the scoop and the byline (buy line?) This endangered far more. I would like to at least have the FCC clip their lisence. This is not just inappropriate, it is treason on an international level and should be dealt with as our nation dealt with traitors in the past---regardless of the money and clout generated and poured into political causes. Unfortunately, to do so at this juncture will further the waves of ridicule. America is still a nation of compassion and oportunity, but it must also be a nation of justice or it cannot stay. What horrified us there was minor campared to what those people suffered in the mutilation. torture and murder of their citizens under their former ruler, and what is everyday planning for the emeny presently. Let's not give them lisence to continue, but example to respect and aim to repair. Sibyl Lee

Even though we have freedom of speech, we have a responsibility to our country, and our government. Thank you Pat, for speaking up. It is so sad to see our country so divided within . You know the Bible states that "A house divided can not stand." I think that our President and Mrs. Bush are great people and I'm honored to have him for my president!! My husband served in the South pacific during WW11. He was at Iwo Jima and several other places of danger. He was proud to serve our country. He says people supported our president then regardless whether being a Democrat or Republican. You just didn't hear all the garbage coming from the News people then. I know times have changed and there is almost instant coverage but enough is enough. Where is loyality to country now. Like you say this is war and look at all the horrible things they are doing to their own people AND what about 9-11. How can they forget so quickly! As for the war records I believe that President Bushes was brought up first. Why is this so important. That happened years ago, what Kerry did and Bush. This is the here and now. Let's get on with the happenings of today not years ago.I saw a young army man just yesterday whom I didn't know. I took the time to speak and tell him I pray for them everyday and how proud I am of them. Try it and see the beautiful smile and the thanks he gives so freely.

Pat Boone was right about the news media. But as Americans, we should All ask ourselves why any news service (ABC,CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN and all of the newspapers) continue to cover these stories over and over again? Because that is what the majority of Americans want to see. Someone else's problems, shame, distortation of the truth. A lot of Americans like to see other people in trouble of any kind as long as it does not touch us. This war has touched us. We have lost AMERICAN lives and lives of men and women of other nations. Now be honest and ask your self, would you watch if the news showed only the good that happens in our world?

If we continue along the path of present moral decline we deserve whatever befalls us. We are following very close behind the traits which brought the ROMAN EMPIRE to its end in the 4th century A.D. About the only thing wrong with the letter, it singled out CBS while FOX news is as bad. Also, this isn't just starting. Had Koppel not kept the Iran hostage crises on nightly, that situation could have ended sooner. After all if no publicity; no success, why bother. Embarrassing our enemies seems hardly a possiblility, (and they probably would never have known they should be embarrassed had they not learn so in our news), it hardly compares to cutting off a hand, let alone beheding people on camera, while haveing their own heads covered. Courtmarshalling our people for emabrrassing such as these? Something else not in the letter is the lack of compassion for families of our service people killed. Can you imagine seeing a huge crater on the TV screen where our military were killed, and wondering if your loved one may have been blown to pieces in that scene? On the other side of the reporting, not covered is the daily reminder of how many thousands of our young peple are maimed for life in this war, or the necessity of many military families back home to seek assistance in haveing enough food to eat, or the fact when service people have the opportunity to come home for 2 weeks, possibly the last time ever to see their families, they must pay their own way back, try to get assistance from private groups organized to help on these trips, or not come home. While the world does not need to be informed about our military personnel not being properly provided for, the situation certainly needs to be corrected.

I agree 100 % with Pat Boone. The whole purpose on the part of CBS and the other media outlets with the exception of the Fox news channel who give both sides of the story, was to discredit President Bush and Ted Kennedy was the leader of the pack in trying to lay the blame at the presidents feet in the "congressional investigation" which was a total farce in my oppinion. The media, again with the exception of the Fox channel has been on an anti Bush frenzy for 4 yrs. and is responsible for dividing our country, promoting the ill will toward our president and our country around the world and at home, jeopardizing our troops by broadcasting 24 hrs., 7 days a week every single move or strategy our president makes. Do you honestly think Saddam was stupid enough to leave the WMD where they could be found with the media chanting "we're gonna get ya, we're coming after ya" and then giving him a daily time table for the event? The whole world knows they exist and he had them and used them and would still be biding his time to use them again, against us this time. They'll be found eventually and most probably in another Saddam aligned country. All the media has done is educate the enemy by laying out strategies for the enemy to use against our troops and our country by bringing in all these retired generals and so called experts to show and say this is what I'd do if it were me or we should be doing this or that etc. Faye T, NC The biggest example of media irresonsibility was in broadcasting the name of a man captured who was involved with the terrorists and the information obtained from his computer which thwarted the intelligence agencies from tracing further information and warned the enemy enabling them to "hide" and change their networks.

It has gotten to a point of abusing to be self-serving and not respecting the rights of others. Whatever happend to decency, respect and love of each other. We must keep our freedoms from being slowly dismantled before and speak out. I would hope that people would see through all this ugliness and secularism which is destroying us within. There is too much reaction and not enough proaction. We as the people of our United States need to step up and denounce these actions of people who are more self-serving and anti-country. It's high time that all Americans begin to view our media as the mind molders that they are. Responsible reporting carries with it the weight of perceiving what the ramifications to the nation will be if the report is taken seriously. Pat has put into words what I have felt for so long---that our media is sabotaging our own wonderful God given freedoms and the very essence of what the nation was created to be and do. It is obvious that much of the reporting is done because of competition to get the story out first without due research and thought as to repercussions.

There is a double standard in this country., It is okay for the Liberal Democrats who are backing Kerry to use 527's sand their billions to attack the Bush Administration, but if a group of Veterans try to tell the truth about Kerry's Service Record, the media repeats the Democrat claim that the Brush Administraion is responsible for the ads. Well, person, do you walk to work, take vacations, fly anywhere, use any oil? Do you want us to open up drilling in some of the places here in our country that others are fighting? It is always strange to me that people can complain, but have no solutions! I like being able to buy gas so that I can get in my vehicle any time I want and drive whereever I want. Hybrid cars are now hitting the market, so that will be a solution down the line. But I want to fly to see my grandchildren - got a solution? Too bad that all of the good news is never printed or reported and it is pretty obvious that this country is merely run on greed! Until America gets back down on its knees, I fear we are in for the worst! We all need to pray and dwell on the good things and always remember that "God is in control". AMEN---

Right on Pat Boone. Someone has to speak out. What we did was wrong but it was being handled. Many things go on in the world that are taken care of behind the scenes and are worked out just fine. I am so sick and tired of hearing negative about the US when it is the ONLY country that is 99.9% right on..... CBS if you don't like what the US is doing, then go to IRAQ and see how your feeling would be then. I feel very sorry for you and honestly believe I shall not watch any of your programs in the future. God Bless America and her leaders and always keep her safe.

I feel that too much of the wrong information is sent out over our air waves. I had a granddaughter in Iraq. She told us how much the Iraq people loved the military there and were so thankful to them. Also we have some friends involved in a ministry at the Olympics in Greece at this time. Two of the girls met three men from Iraq. When the men asked the girls where they were from they said the US. Their comment's were "Thank you, Thank you for what you have done for our country." and also gave the girls a hug. The news media does not bring things like these to the publics attention. I agree. The positions of our troops were shown on TV and time estimates were given when they were closing in on Saddam. Our troops were "sitting ducks" for the enemy. People have been executed for giving away military information -- now it is on TV for us -- the enemies who are living in the U.S. and for all the world to see. Do the networks really think they are not watching?? War is not a game. The public can be given general information and news without putting our troops in more danger. As for those pictures -- how gross!! Do the network officials let their families watch a person being beheaded, prisoners being abused, etc. while eating breakfast? Don't they think about the effect these things have on our children?? Obiously not.

This is really an article speaking for a lot of us today. I believe that the media, in their rush to make money and remove our President from office, is giving too much attention to the Hollywood group and others who have like views. It is great that we live in a country where we can speak our mind and the media can print whatever they want, but it would be nice if they would use common sense and if we had a country of unity. Not that we would all think a like, at all. Just a sense of unity & what is good for the country as in World War II. But we have come far from that time. I believe this war we are fighting will be a never ending war. The thing that keeps me going, what with what I hear every day and how trashy the elections are getting, is that GOD is in control. I know not what his plans are, but he surely does.

Of course Mr. Boone is correct. People are blind to what really happened , and what continues to occur. All three commercial networks on televisionABC, NBC and CBS are cuipible and millions, of our senior citizens mosty, watch the things they say and believe in each and every word. Our young peopl see the lies on the screen by stars they worship then go to the polls and vote those lies.Parents are too busy to shape the beliefs of their children and they are sent first, to the movies and then to college where professors are preaching socialism and non belief in Jesus and those of us who are old are helpless to reach the young minds. Mr. Bush is brave enough to do what he sees as right if we are to survive as a nation and all tv save Fox and trying their best to defeat him. May the lord help us if they win.

I agree with Pat Boone. What the media doesn't have the liberty to show is how these terrorists are treating their prisoners. What is shown is one sided. And if it is being handled then why not wait and see the outcome? We don't need to know all of the details. And while showing this on television to us they broadcast it to all the world as well. The terrorists are smarter than our media, they DON'T broadcast all their dirty secrets. And this doesn't just happen to CBS but the same is on NBC and ABC. I have seen it on all of the channels. Freedom of the press will be the downfall of this country if THEY don't handle their job with discretion.

I agree with you Pat, news is news to a point, and I also feel they go to far with their reporting, not just on the channels you mentoned, but most of the media, via on TV, newspapers, magazines, and etc. They all as reporters, & editors need to censor what they classify as news before broadcasting it, or printing it, and ask themselves, what can I do, or how can I write this story, so it won't cause any one any harm, and still be accurate. Their writing abilities can be done in such away as not to harm anyone. It is in all how they play up the story to get ratings or sell to the public. A lot of times news items can be & is inaccurate at least when it is published, and it is really a sad thing at times when their in-accuracies does reputeable harm to a person or persons life because of it. Sometimes the harm is done for a lifetime, and can't be fixed. Often times the reporters write the story, but often times the story has changed somewhat by the time it gets to print, so it isn't necessarily always the reporter, writing the story.

I wholeheartedly agree and I think it is about time for people to consider morals, standards and respect for the actions they are inflicting upon others. How can the press, the media account for their actions when they are causing harm for other people. Take for example: the Princess Diana case, she would probably still be alive today if it wasn't for the poporatzi(?) chasing after her to make a few bucks, selling her pictures, etc. Where is our respect for other people? Why are we so callous to cause other people harm? I say if some of the evil news was not publicized so widely, less crime would be commited because some people want attention at any cost. So much of this war coverage should NOT have been aired - what a way to enlighten the enemy! I also believe that our schools started going downhill when Madeline Murray OHara got prayer taken out of school and if it offends someone to Pledge Allegiance to our Flag, they need to leave America! Because if they don't uphold our flag, they do NOT support USA! What happened to "majority rules"?

Pat is right on all counts IMO. The news media has sold out our military and the security of our country for ratings. We recently spent 10 days in Israel. We listened to CNN, broadcast from England I believe, and the BBC. That is all we had for news from home. We had to quit watching and go without news because both channels were so negative about the USA and it's policies around the world. And it is shocking that so many are stealing classified materials and removing them from secure places. Treason is treason and charges should be filed against the perpetrator regardless of who she or he is or what office they used to hold. Alta Wolf

I think that Pat Boone is absolutely right. I think anyone should pay for their wrong doings in the name of American, and our soldiers. How many times do we hear of all the good things that our military has done? Place ourselves in their positions!! The media has done more harm than good. It seems like people thrive more on the evil than our blessings. I am behind our military 100%, god forgive them for having to kill the enemy, they are our back bone and most of all they are ours. Young men and women sent to war, and having never seen anything like this before, I think they have probably prayed more and wish they were home with their families. God Bless Them All!! We continue to live free because of their bravery. We have always been a kind and gentle country and I pray that it will stay that way. It's easy to learn hate when you are thrust into a position to fight and stay alive. I pray for them, having to see their fellow soldiers killed, and know this has got to be horrible. I hope I never have to see the things that they have seen. They will not forget this time in their lives. They have probably done many things that they wish they hadn't. God Bless them All!!

BUT NOW IT IS A SHAME THE WAY THE CHILDREN ARE BEING TAUGHT ABOUT THE BASIC FACTS OF U.S.A. HISTORY. I HAVE BEEN APPALLED AT SOME OF THE FACTS I HAVE HEARD. Just imagine if many of these countries had to make it on their own..They would have never survived.. America stands tall and strong mainly because Present Bush has not waivered and thus keeping America safe. I no longer watch any of the above stations and I urge others to do the same. I agree wholeheartedly with this report. The major news networks are extremely biased toward the 'Left,' and are largely responsible for keeping a lot of the 'undesirable' topics in the forefront of the news by continually dwelling on news that is slanted towards their views. That includes ABC,NBC,CBS, and yes CNN (Clinton News Network). The guests they have on their shows are usually those who are Bush-Bashers, just to make our President look bad in the eyes of the world. They are promoting the left-wing agenda, along with the Godless judges of our courts, all the way to the Supreme Court, by the way. The ACLU(Anti-Christian Liberty Union)is more like it, is nothing but a bunch of thugs who try to push their Godless ways on everyone in the country. They need to be disbanded. They are nothing but troublemakers. The networks are always reporting on possible targets for terrorists. Why don't they just tell them where to strike next? Something needs to be done to reign in these godless networks that will wind up getting a lot of Americans killed by their biased reporting, and giving out information that should remain classified. By taking God out of everything our country has gone downhill morally like never before all because of the left-wing liberals..Ex: abortion, free sex,gay marriage(ugh!)We have sunk to new lows morally. I never dreamed our country would ever stoop so low as the godless laws they have passed or are trying to pass. Our country is the laughing stock of the world it seems. The networks obviously want Kerry to win. Heaven help this country if that happens. He fits their mold. They are all anti-Bush,and by their actions, they are shaping the agenda of this country, not our lawmakers and President. These networks need to be held accountable for everything they report. and pay the price for it if they don't.

I often wonder if the purpose of the alphabet networks is only for ratings...In 1995, I could not bear to watch Peter Jennings do a show on the anniversary of the dropping of the Atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, it was so slanted in an Un-American way. I watched Dan Rather interview Saddam and wondered why he was so much more courteous than he is with anyone named Bush. I've finally given up watching any of the "big" three and CNN. They are all so biased. I am aware of the leaking of the prison stories, though I didn't watch it... I am a senior citizen...can remember Pearl Harbor and have read history all my life for sheer pleasure...I am appalled at the lack of Patriotism now....when I was young Love of country was second only to Love of our Creator and His Son....Now, thanks to the ACLU and a lot of press and questionable elected officials God is outlawed in schools, Patriotism is no longer a virtue and filth, in all it's forms,is the "Art" of the present. How I wish we could reclaim all our lost values and the major networks would either have to change or fall by the wayside. Thanks for giving an old lady a chance to voice an opinion. M. I have been wondering when we are going to hold the media accountable for the way they handle their reporting, I believe that they start 90% of the bad feelings in the world. I would really like them to become responsible and be held accountable for the lies that they write.. all over the world. I have not gone into journalism myself ,not wanting to be "one of them" I am ashamed to see some of the trash that is being printed now a days. There needs to be a stop put to their "freedom" of speech. So many are vulnerable to their wolfish print.
