Thank you for publishing this letter; I had heard about it but not read the content. I agree with Mr. Boone's analysis and feeling regarding the media and their damage to our nation. Freedom of Press and Freedom of Speech are a far cry from the liberal brain washing and patriot denegration and American bashing we hear and receive today and call news. Maybe we needed to know about the prison abuses, but rather than continuous coverage and blaming America, they should have been compared to the reality of what the terrorist have done to our people and our allies. We can not give in to this; to give in is to live as they do in Israel and Palestine and this war has been going on for thousands of years. The Muslins and Arabs do not hate us for this war; they hate us for our profession of Christianity and our freedoms, which have created our wealth and our power. I have lost my interest and trust in any major network; I occasionally watch FOX, but never CNN or CBS, the worst of the worst; occasionally local news. I quit CBS when Dan Rather gave his gutless and biased interview of Sadam Hussein, not once, but twice. As for Hollywood, I suggest boycott all of them. 95% of the good ones are dead now anyway. What will reach them except loss of their over-generous, undeserved income and socialist prestige? Boycott the companies and media that give them their platform. Everyone that thinks the public should be kept up to date with all that is going on and thinks it is alright for the media to tell and show ALL, how do you think you would feel if it were your son, daughter, father mother, sister or brother in the pictures for all the world to see? Our service persons are fighting for us to have freedom and as a proud country it is surely terrible that our few military persons would lower our standards to be like the people we are fighting. I agree with Pat Boone's statement. They is plenty of time to broadcast the story after our soldiers are back home and not in the hostile region that already hates America, even though we are trying to deliver them from the imhumane treatment that they have had to endure for so many years. CBS is to the far left and does not report the truth and does not seem to realize if they were not in AMERICA, they would not be allowed to say the things they say. Prior to reading this article, I had already made the decision to quit watching CBS. The only program that I watch on CBS now is the local news at 6:00 pm. I only watch this because the weather person's parents live close to the small town where I live, so she seems to especially talk about the forecast here. Regrettfully, it's also DITTO for most of ABC and NBC. I do watch the local FOX news station some. It's too bad when you can't depend on the bit stations to report things properly. Too bad, also, the same problems happens with newspapers. Why would anyone read the New York Times?
I think Mr. Boone should stay with his music. We have the right to know what is going on, even if we don't like it. The news should report the facts and we the people should hear the facts. i agree CBS does go to far with their news casts on alot of things not just the above mentioned this is one station that prempts more programs than any other station on tv and i don't watch CBS much at all for this reason!
I believe that the American people deserve to hear the truth. If more networks would stand up and broadcast the real truth about the Bush administration and what is happening in Iraq as well as here in our own country, George Bush wouldn’t have a prayer for re-election. The lies, deceits, and manipulations would be exposed for ALL to see. The old saying, “Don’t blame the messenger”, certainly applies here. The blame lies with those who are responsible for the abuse, and with the administration that put us there to begin with. Are you really so naïve to believe that if CBS hadn’t reported on the abuse, the beheaders wouldn’t have known about it? Or wouldn’t have found another reason to do it. Our nation had already lost credibility with the world, this was just the icing on the cake. Many in the Muslim world already hated us. Maybe we should ask ourselves why they hate us. Why are they so angry with us? Is this war truly a way to make peace with them, or will it give them more reasons to hate us? Are we responsible for their hate? Yes, we are responsible for electing leaders who give them reasons to hate us. I like to believe that if the American people really knew the truth behind the motivations of those leaders, they would choose NOT to elect them. Most of us only look a little ways down the road when making political comments. Particularly those on the left of the political spectrum. During World War Two we fought against the so called Axis Powers and ultimately defeated them at great cost. After the war was over, we were involved in creating the United Nations. We all had high hopes that this organization would be the remedy for preventing any future aggression. Well, while there were high hopes at the start, it hasn't really proved to be so as history has clearly shown. It is really sad to see the frogs and krouts on the same side against the U.S. when it comes to stopping aggression by terrorist. The united nations was effective during the time when the allied powers were for the most part, basically in control of the U.N. Now we have all sorts of nations that are members of ther U.N. and their vote counts as much as our vote does in the general assembly. Of course they don't ever pay any assessment to the U.N. in the same ammounts as the United States does. We fund the U.N. all out of proportion to our population. The U.N. otherwise sits on its collective asses when it comes to doing anything about certain nations and terrorist ambitions who want to raise hell all over the world. The liberal wonks including the major news networks are akin to the ineffective U.N. in that they make their money here as capitalist, but seem to always take the liberal left slant on the news and consistantly promote leftist garbage in their news programs. We are at war. We are at war against something that has never been seen before in history in the same magnitude as we are presently observing. We did not go to war against Afganistan and Iraq just for the hell of it, or as a matter of government policy. The terrorist would be quite happy if they could kill every one of us while seeking their ends which is world domination. They are unfortunately using their religion to further their ends and dragging others of the same basic religious pursuasion down the same filthy, dirty, lying, killing road as they themselves are traveling. Now we have these people in this country who are so short sighted that they can't recognize where this road is leading to. The country is now polluted by smart asses like Jane Fonda and John Kerry who think it is cute to bad mouth their own nation and to hell with where it may be leading us to. I don't like war anymore than anyone else, but sometimes you just have to get up off your rear end and do something about those who would enslave you, or just kill you because they have this idea that they are somehow superior to the rest of us. The pre World War Two Japanese and German governments both suffered from this idea of superiority of their race over all others. The only funny part of these beliefs they held is that if it wasn't for the war time situation that drew them together in their Axis alliance, that they would have been loudly shouting that they were superior racially over the other. So now we have another group of superiority idiots out there claiming they are better than the rest of the infidels, meaning us, and they believe they have some sort of a God given approval to enslave, or kill the rest of us so called "infidels". The answer to the terrorist problem is certainly not in the minds of the liberal left and their fellow pinko travelers. The answer is certainly not in the slant the liberal left news agencies is always spouting. Patriotic feelings in support of our nation seem to be getting the short end of support by these leftist. Disgusting is certainly a good word to describe what has been happening in the national news reporting industry. "Truth", what in the hell is that they seem to be saying. I have virtually quit watching the other news networks because I can't believe the liberal, socialist, communist crap they are spouting these days. That also means that I don't see the advertisements their sponsors would like to have me look at and hear. The difference between what Fox News broadcast and the other networks spit out is that I get to hear and see something from both sides of the issues. The NPR stations like to let you actually hear what the liberal lefties are actually saying, and then they will tell you, but only in their own words what they think you ought to be hearing from the other side. So yes, I watch Fox news, because they seem to be a lot more honest in their reporting than the discredited other liberal news networks. I totally agree with Pat Boone. Those pictures should never have been posted. The whole thing is ridiculous! They were't being tortured, only teased. Our prisoners have been killed and tortured. I think Mr. Boone is terribly misguided. Instead of focusing on CBS, he should be focusing on what in the world we are doing in Iraq. How did we get there and what are we doing there? If we weren't there, none of this would be happening. Everyone's son or daughter would be home, or at least in a place where we have a legitimate reason to be there. Afganistan comes to mind. According to my recollection of what happened, is that no one was relieved of duty until after the facts were made public. The military had gotten reports from prisoners of the mistreatment, but they were considered so bizarre that the reports were not fully investigated. It was only after the story was made public, that the reports were investigated again and only then were found to be true. I believe blame for this should go much higher than it will. Whatever happened to the phrase "one can delegate authority, but responsibility."
Pat, I commend you for your stance, thoughts and comments. We should also suggest to all that we inform CBS advertisers that we boycott their products since they are financial supporters of this CBS treason. I applaud his courage to write this letter and believe it is time for Americans (and there are many) who believe things are going in the wrong direction in our country to have the courage to make their voices heard. The beheaders of Nick Berg would have used another excuse against the United States if CBS never aired the Abu Ghraib prison abuse. War is not a nice thing, and I hate it that Mr. Bush and Mr. Chaney were so eager to wage war on Iraq. After all, doesn't the presidential seal itself bear a rampant eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch? Facing the olive branch, the eagle chooses peace, while looking away from the arrows of war. Agreeing or disagreeing with Pat Boone isn't the object here. I don't always like what the press reports no matter which sorce it is but without this reporting our freedoms would be in great jepordy. I believe we all have the mental resourses to balance news reports from different sorces. Be glad you have these freedoms and don't have to rely on the government to tell you what is being taken care of and what is not. Try thinking about things instead of excepting everything you are told as being the only side of a story.

I absolutely agree with Pat Boone. rmemeber that this is CBS's way of doing business. Do you remember the "unexplained Engine acceleration" incidents. All caused by the driver - not the vehicle. Did they do a story about that when the truth was finally known? No. Business as ususal. I never watch 60 minutes or any CBS show any more.
I agree completely with Pat Boones comments. Not everyone is going to be able to handle the responsibility of being in charge of other uncooperative human beings whom they hold in contempt without losing their humanity. In every war atrocities have been committed against prisoners by their wardens, regardless of race, creed, etc. As long as the perpetrators of this particular incidence were being dealt with by the miliary, I agree that while CBS or any media outlet had a duty to investigate, they should have backed off reporting it to the world when presented with the facts that it was being dealt with. Or worked with the military of the very country that affords them the luxury and freedom to investigate in the first place - to present the facts in a less sensational manner - and present only the "and these people have been dealt with" aspect. I think President Bush has done a great job. How many people could take on what he has and still be sane. Because he has God on his side is the only way he could still be standing. The press goes too far in reporting things about the government that should be kept secret. There are a lot of good things done in our country and I think we would all be better off if the press would concentrate some effort on reporting good rather than bad. They should remember that reporting good stuff makes everyone feel good.

While we were saying we are going to war, on the news they were showing trucks living Iraq, hundreds, WHAT WAS IN THOSE TRUCKS!!! Pat Boone hit the nail on the head. I have three children that we like to have watch the news and learn about what is going on in the world. This ended with the CONSTANT talk of what Clinton was doing. And then when they showed on the news the "up to the last second" beheading of the journalist over in Iraq, we were devastated! My son had so many questions! I agree with Mr. Boone. The news stations should report news not add to the trouble our troops are having over there. FOX is our choice of news station also. And as for all of the celebrities bashing Bush, I feel they are being very crude and embarrassing. Our country stood together 3 years ago, we need to do the same again.
I Have been saying this for 40 years. How mant times has the news media told the enemy what mistakes they made and how they could have done it better.
Viva Pat Boone. Why can't we all see how the news media's are the ones we should be at war with. They report things just to get their ratings. How many kids have died because of what was reported on TV, or newspapers. These kids went off to try and copy the event. Some of us do not want to know about all those things. My wife and I once met Pat Boone in San Antonio. We also met his lovely daugther, Debbie, several years later. They are without a doubt some of the finest Christians we have ever met. Thanks, Mr. Boone, for your comments. I have read many of the comments posted by others responding to this beautiful artical by Mr. Boone. I agree with every word Mr. Boone writes. If we would all join in boycotting CBS, NBC, CNN, the liberal press, as well as those who advertise in those liberal news agencies, I believe we might bring about some change. Add to that proposal, boycotting most of the movies produced by the radical liberals in Hollywood. Yes, we do live in the best country in the world where we enjoy many freedoms, among which is the freedom of speech and freedom of the press. However, there are penalties also for abusing those freedoms, e.g., pornography is a violation of expression. When the so-called "stars" of Hollywood can call our President, regardless of who he is, a "liar" or a "Nazi" simply because they don't agree with how he is leading our nation, it is wrong and should be punishable. Those are the same people who call former President Clinton their friend even after he desecrated the Oval Office and lied about "not having sex" with Monica. I never have had any respect for radical Whoopy Goldberg. I say stop going to the movies and making their enormous salaries possible. By the way, compare how long we heard in the liberal news media about the terrible things in that prison in Iraq to the brief time we heard about Clinton's escapades. CBS has always been the "enemy within" since at least the 1960's. I remember the extreme dislike fellow Vietnam correspondents had for several key CBS reporters when I talked with them in the Fall, 1970. They were known as the "Communist Broadcasting Company" both here at home and abroad. If you remember their "Selling (Shelling) of the Pentagon" story, well covered by Accuracy in Media in either the late 60's or early 70's, you know what I mean. The people at CBS always go for stories that degrade, undermine, and destroy the esssence of America. In a perfect world, there would be no My Lai or Abu Graib but this is not a perfect world, and our enemies know it. They know that they can count on CBS, and now CNN, among others, to feature the worst of something that involves America, rather than putting it into a proper context. I'm not advocating censorship, only responsible journalism. How does Abu Graib compare to the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis found in mass graves throughout their country? And there will be more mass graves uncovered. Only last week they found another mass grave in Bosnia, almost 10 years after the war ended, and if one had access to Darfar, Sudan, or the mountainous areas of South Vietnam, you would find more mass graves. If it were not for America, most of Europe would have been turned into one mass grave, a cemetary of many nations far beyond what we uncovered at Auschwitz (where my relatives died) or Buchenwald or the Katyn Forest. [Once in a while I wish the French would remember this too, not only CBS]. America is not perfect but we are the greatest liberator of mankind, the greatest force for freedom the world has ever seen. The American military has been the savior of freedom but some in the media treat it as though it were a plague on mankind. I'm proud of our country. I'm proud of my father-in-law (three Purple Hearts in WW2, including Iwo Jima, my father who also served in WW2 and of my son Joshua, Operation Iraqi Freedom, last year. They were not torturers, baby-killers, mass murderers, oppressors, or the rapacious hordes of Ghengis Khan. They represented the best of America, the best of the fighters for freedom. It is about time that CBS, CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the L. A. Times began to realize it and to report about it. It is time that the scales of reporting tipped in America's favor. We have paid too much blood to be smeared by our own media as the "enemy" instead of Al Quaeda, Saddam Hussein, Joe Stalin, and Ho Chi Minh. The internet has given the average American the ability to comment and critique the media as never before. It can become a powerful instrument in reforming a profession that is often regarded as highly as lawyers and prostitutes. And as a professional writer for over 35 years, I feel that the media today is worse than it was before the advent of cable television and the internet. The quality of some key media organizations has deteriorated into an America-bashing contest, and often they refuse to print or run comments by those who point this out. The internet has become the alternative voice of reform or of advocating reform by showing where it is needed. This comments section is one way to say something that the New York Times, Wash. Post, or CBS will never let out into the light of day, the truth. I encourage others to join in and to work to make America's media more responsible and more balanced. I was in Vietnam, although I did not see any of the artrocities that has so eloquently been expressed the fact remains that we are at war. Come on folks, get real ! What did Hitler do to the Jews, what have all these rogue nations done to the prisoners of war. You dont have to look that far back to see what war will do to a nation. Our soldiers have acted graciously while dealing with people who would and will kill their own. Who amoung you would stand by and allow these things to happen if you had the power to change it? My thoughts are to leave the military alone, stay out of their business and let them get on with the protection of our democracy - No matter if we hurt some poor foreigner's feelings - My God what would these same misfits do to us were the situation changed. (cut off heads, rape, pillage and burn homes)_ How far away from Baghdad do you have to get to see this happening in their own society. Wake up, stop complaining and let the Patriots run the show. Isn't it amazing how other countries can condemn us when they; themselves are covering worse than we would ever commit? Why is it so long and wrong for the US to do something like this and ohhhhhhh so O.K. when the rest are doing it.? Sorta makes you wonder doesn't it. Finally to close - just think how much more this country would appreciate of those "hired protestors" volunteering their time and effort to go running around in the desert of Iraq - chasing the militants instead of trying to become one of the same over here. I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Boone's comments. The major news channels and commentators have definitely given 'aid and comfort to the enemy.' Having grown up during WWII and having to read all news in the papers, I can agree with comments that 'Loose lips sink ships.' What would have been the result of the Normandy invasion if the papers - and readers - had been told the plans of the invasion? Americans had better open their eyes and minds to what is being spewed forth as 'news' on these channels. A most heartfelt 'Thank You' to Mr. Boone for having the courage to speak out about the abuses of the major networks. The action in the prison were a discracful site. It is really heart rendering that CBS made such a show and made such selfrighteous statements. It is deplorable and discusting. I agree with Pat Boone's comments 100%. Responsible journalism should be the aim of every reporter and their employers. Far too often the media seems to be reporting on events, whether they be wars, investigations, crimes and giving their opinions on these matters irrespective of whether their comments are responsible and prudent or just bringing themselves down to the slimey ranks of the gutter-press. If they are being contemptuous or breeching security, they should be charged with contempt and treason. No person or organisation is above the law - why should the media regard themselves as excluded from this fact.

It is about time we were given a balanced view of the what they are up to. I agree the media want to have hight rateings. I do not think they should have did what they did. We watch fox new we think they are fair and balanced like they claim to be.
All I can say is one big AMEN!!! I think the media has going overboard mainly for ratings for far too long. We need to give a little more consideration for the safety of our Armed Forces. This is a very well done article by Pat Boone and it goes directly to the core of the problem. No mention was made of the thousands upon thousands of their own people tortured and killed for whatever reason. I don't not approve of torture in any form but I doubt that making these fellows stand naked was doing any harm to them but the pictures makes one think that they were being subjected to various, horrible, unspeakable pain.
I think tha CBS has always been biased. I never watch the CBS programs, nor the news. I like many of the other channels better.. Dan Rather has always been a trouble maker. I will be glad when he gets too old to report the biased news!!! He should retire and go home. This is not the first time he has reported news that should have been left alone. I beieve thatthe International Red Cross and Amnesty International had been trying to bring these abuses to an end for some time and were met with unconcern by the powers that be. Sometimes it takes lighting a fire under them to accomplish something. To becom what we profess to be fighting t free the Iraqis from rather defeats our purpose, what ever that might be. I'm still not too clear on that subject.
I couldn't agree more with what Pat Boone has said. I have always thought that the news media is the worst enemy that we have. I agree they do comment teason everyday. How can the reporters be on the front line in war and report what the military is planning or doing. How come they are not out reporting to us what the enemy is doing to our troops and their plans. Is this history repeating itself? as when Kerry came home, testified about atrosities during Viet Nam and destroyed his medals - the prisoners of war at that time were punished because of hearing this...... I also find it a bit confusing when I hear Kerry blaming 911 on Pres. Bush. Clinton had been in office for eight years - Bush for a few months - Is that not like comparing apples and oranges. Another confusing factor is the story of Bush sending all the businesses overseas - like he personal had a hand in it. Trusting Government to say something is being dealt with and is in hand is something Im not so sure we should do. It seems that when any media who doesn't fall in line with the Bush way of thinking is considered liberal and dishonest or even treasonist. These McCarthy like accusations is shameful. Do you think we should hide from the world our shameful conduct because its not as bad as their slaughtering of others? Remaining above reproach is the high road. We claim to be on the high road and we shouldnt get upset at CBS or anyone else when we're called on it. Fox is considered World News and should not be used for U.S. propaganda. CNN the same. I appauld Pat Boone for writing this letter. If more American would start to voice their displeasure in the way that news is reported. We would see a vast change in what is reported. It's not about the content of the news, it about making dollar & cents. Well, those dollar that they make on reporting about Abu Ghraib prison has Nick Berg's blood & every person that is & will be killed on it. I hope each time they spend these dollars for the luxury that is afforded to them by reporting their stories. They remember that they are responsible for the heartaches that these families are suffering.

How much have you read about the good things that are happening in Iraq? The schools that are open with new books, provided by us; the basic living conditions that are available for most, the new construction of homes and businesses, with new businesses opening up, etc.? Do you not wonder if there is more normalcy than reported? Instead, the reporters are too busy planning the strategy for the armies, reporting the details of the suffering, and telling of the horrors the Americans are committing. And do you realize that the crowds of anti-war protestors are mostly all young people, who have only "heard" about wars in their short lifetime? How many of the older generation, who have actually fought and lived through other wars, demonstrate? The current press seem to be too interested in selling their papers, and certainly not too interested in helping our service men fight this war. Anyone of any intelligence knows that you do not educate the enemy with your attack plans, and with all of the electronics of this age, that means keeping those plans secret, especially from the public. It's reassuring to read all the favorable and up-beat comments of people who are truly thankful that we have a true Christian leading our country. The liberals are scared to death that there is a chance that more of our citizens may actually turn back to Christ and the principles our country was founded on. I have to say this: tune in and listen to Dr. James Kennedy, a Presbyterian minister. He is bravely and boldly on a crusade for Christian revival. God is the only one who can save our country. If Pat Boone was right, and he is extremely to the right, and the military was investegating and removed some of the individuals committing the crimes against the Iraqui prisoners then why were the worst perpetrators still not removed from their positions and prosecuted? Because the military wasn't doing anything about it. Besides the real reason the Arab world hates us and the rest of the world holds us in contempt is because our administration lied to us and for the first time in our history we declared war and invaded a country that had not committed a crime against the U.S.A. If you hear a lie often enough you will believe it and most of you are victims of that. There is sufficent information available to believe that the Bush administration entered office wanting to invade Iraq. We've been had. Conservatives think the best way we can safeguard our freedom is by curtailing our freedom.

The Media is so liberal in its coverage of all aspects of the news, but to put in harms way our fine young military personal is unthinkable. There will always be a few bad apples around and I guess the press loves or thinks it sells time and paper, but they are acting irresponsably. We need to keep praying that someday they too will see the error of their ways. It seems that almost everything lately is money driven,from health care and oil prices to food and clothing.The media and especially CBS will do anything if it will result in higher ratings.Frankly I could care less about the ratings. I am not totally in favor of the war in Iraq but we are there and every effort should be made to help,protect,and support our troops.They put their lives on the line by just being over there.If the people at CBS think what they did by showing those pictures was good journalism then I hope that are happy with the "30 pieces of silver"
If we take the pictures of the naked prisoners and lay them beside the photo of the burning bodies hanging from the bridge or perhaps the headless bodies which would CBS choose to use. The answer is all of them. The fifth estate and not only CBS have put ratings and thusly financial income ahead of ethics. Unfortunately as the American public lets those images and convincing words into their lives bit by bit the TV, news papers and magazines numb the very essence of what makes us US citizens. If the reporters repeat something often enough we begin to accept it and finally believe it. No human being on this earth is perfect and our elected leaders are trying as best they know to lead this country. Perhaps we should find a way to lay out the charred and torn bodies of 9-11 from both the Twin Towers and the Pentagon and lay those beside that of the "abused" prisoners. How soon we forget, funny how the reporters don't want to talk about "Where did all the Scuds and launchers go?" But if you think about it just how many of them were captured and in the hands of the US led forces. If they could make all of the Scuds and their support equipment disappear, what else could they have put with them? Interesting question but the reporters find no sizzle in that story. A GI gone wrong sells. Money or ethics seems to be the question and unfortunately they again took the short and easy road for immediate ratings and of course "Show me the money!" Shame on them.
I agree with Pat Boone. CBS is so ridiculous. I will never forget the interview that Dan Rather had with President George Herbert Walker Bush ( the current president's father) He crucified the President on the air. My husband and I both sat there with our mouths open, not believing the disrespect for the leader of our country, who was an honest and upright man. We have not watched CBS news or any news program since! And I certainly won't again. I get my news from the Christian network online, or from Pat Robertson's program, and I watch Fox some. But I never watch NBC, ABC, Or CBS! It is so very slanted toward only the liberal. You never get the other side. If you want to know the positive and good things that are happening, you have to go to the Christian news online. We never hear the good things! And there are lots of good things happening. I feel very strongly that the news media is out to make a mountain from a mole hill and it is done each day. Yes , there can be things that we wish had not happened but after it has happened do we need to know every small detail?? I think not. Some things we are better off not knowing until it has been checked out and if there is something that needs to be done, do it. Then we can be told. I feel that the news is slanted according to the reporter's view, not what might be correct. I feel many times we only hear part of the story and as Paul Harvey states we need to hear " the rest of the story." Frankly, I do not believe a lot of the reports we hear each day. When you see pictures on tv there will be people in the background just meandering around and I think if I knew someone would shoot me in a short time, I would not be on the street. I totally agree with Mr. Boone. CBS neglected common sense, and showed TOTAL irresponsibity by getting the jump on what they considered a good story. They endangered many American's. I am a very proud mother of a Marine, and like thousands of other parents stayed up all night watching the war and praying for the safety of not only our troops, but for the innocent Iraq people. I am also the proud aunt of a Marine currently serving his second deployment to Iraq. This is a very serious and dangerous matter. CBS showed a TOTAL disregard for our service men & women and for innocent civilian workers. CBS should be held accountable for their greedy broadcasting. CBS is not on my TV.

I find this page very interesting, and if what Pat Boone says is the truth, I don't understand why the reporters of these things weren't themselves put to death for treason. After a general begged them not to, because of the horrendous consequenses of such reporting, the filth had to go on and do it for his own personal gain. It is he, or they that should have been beheaded, not Mr. Berg. I could say a whole lot more about the news media, but it wouldn't be fit to print, so I'll leave well enough alone.

Well, maybe FOX might have, but I don't get time to watch much TV.....I am a Military wife and so proud of my husband. He is home and not in harms way but it is breaking my heart that so many YOUNG boys are dieing daily over this, in roadside bombings ETC. Now Mr. Boone.....What do we do about it? I agree with Pat Boone and have made similar comments on several web site opinion poles since CBS made its blunder. Freedom of the press, yes. Abuse of that freedom, no. I think that in times of war the government and the military should censor the news. Too many reporters who can't or don't use good judgement put our troops in jeopardy. (Ever wonder how the networks can show news clips of the enemy firing rockets or attacking our troops, from within their midst?? ) CBS and the other networks are so intent on bashing Bush in any way they can, that they have lost sight of what's important especially for the safety of our troops. I stopped watching CBS news and even our local CBS affiliate. In my estimation the first ammendment has been stretched, bent, and twisted as much as should be allowed. It has gone far beyond what is righteous, just and ethical. Then, again, ratings and newspaper sales are gotten by sensationalism.....real or tarnished. When was the last time you read something good in the papers ??

Thank you for showing Mr. Boone's letter. I have for years felt the TV news media has been more a hinderance than help. They have many times shown how to make various bombs. Of course, now you can find that on the Internet. I do wish, however, they would stop using the word 'terrorist' and use the proper description 'murdering cowards'. It is murder, without question. So many times things are being noticed and corrected in the background as Mr. Boone states in his letter, but media gets a hint of same and feels all the world should know. Not necessarily. Though the murderers express hatred for America, they have the many conveniences of television and other modern technological things and are seeing and hearing the same things we are. I watch the news sparingly. The two men who were caught planning the bombing of a subway in New York this weekend lived in the city. If so many hate America, why are they so eager to come here and once here stay. (I found the bombing information on my Internet news page, not TV. On my page I can chose what I wish to read). Of course I agree with Pat. What I found odd was the sameness of the anti-Bush posters. Is there a site somewhere they go to and "cut and paste" the SAME talking points. I'm serious here. I think the Iraq people who have watched Sadam Husseun rape, cut, mutulate, cut off hands, cut off arms (and other parts), would disagree with one writer that we should not be there and we've destroyed their lifestyle. They are very happy to have us there and to have captured that thug and killer that has terrorized them for many years (proof is the mass graves of bodies uncovered). I read ALL the comments and I am encouraged to see that the far greater number are in favor of what Pat Boone had to say. My husband and I watch primarily Fox News, sports events, special events like the Olympics and the rest of TV is truly not fit to watch. The morals, language, content and slant (liberal) programing is a total "turn off."......Sorry to say, we look at the political map of the blue/red and we can see the 50% split in our country. It is a representation of the mores' in our society. I am in my late 60's, a Christian and I see such change in our culture in the past 50 years. It is shocking!!! Illegal immigration, the trend for tolerance in all venues and the trashing of family cohesiveness contribute to much of our societal problems. The churches and schools and parents that once were the glue that kept everyone on the right track have abdicated responsibility. We are raising children that are observing all this and they accept abberant behavior as the norm. I feel we are in deep trouble as a society. Thank you Pat Boone for saying what so many feel. I would love to see CBS suffer for it's gross negligence. What positive result did we the american people receive from releasing those photos. August 29, 2004. I really appreciate your standing boldly and publishing this article by Pat Boone. And, I must take my hat of to Mr. Boone for not being afraid to stand up for right in a very shakey time. It seems that when you stand up for right, then you get persecuted for it. Like what the news media is doing to President Bush. I am 60 this year, and I remember growing up in this country when everyone supported the President, even if they did not totally agree with everything he did. Americans need to stick together if we want our country to stay strong, otherwise we will be undermined by these foolish things that are being brought up only so they can get a good news scoop. They should be ashamed of themselves... Pat Boone, I salute you. Stay strong.
I am just so thankful that someone of character had the nerve to post his thoughts with the public. I applaud him for that and I do agree with him one hundred percent. I agree these ultra-liberal networks ought to be boy-cotted, especially CBS. What is the best way of doing this? One way is to watch CBS during commercial time, build a list of the advertisers, write THEM. Tell them they are on your list of companies NOT to buy from. Be sure we then buy NONE of their products as long as they sponsor Anti-American Propoganda shows that threaten the lives of our sons and daughters.

I absolutely agree and wanted to express that opionion for some time. I further believe that when such a breach of trust occurres, They ought to be severely fined and put on probation for an extended period and if ever it happens again lose their right to exist. The very best ally our enemy has is our irresponsible press along with those in congress who would ''sell their soul''for a bowl of political porridge. We are at war and we ought to be pulling together . I believe this thing in Iraq would be well on its way to conclusion if the factions over there were convinced we were united to win. BUT everybody has their own little agenda and could not care less about the people who have their lives on the line!SHAME-SHAME on those monday morning quarterbacks who know all the answers. It takes no genius to know what might have been more usefull eons after the fact. Remember, most of these politicians who now are giving hope to the enemy, voted to go after them in congress. They wanted to be in position to claim victory if all went well. The resulting conflict requires more committment than first thought, so now the slippery politicians are saying " I voted to send troops BUT I would have done it the right way" OF COURSE--Their way. They should have been so-o smart when it could have been useful. If the USA is plagued by selfish politicians and slanderous news media ---We are doomed to crumble from the inside out. I am so refreshed by Pat Boone's words. He has nailed the truth of Abu Graibe and CBS. Sadly, our news is contaminated with lies and spin. But we are enlightened by people like Pat Boone and courageous talk show hosts like Rush, Sean, Glenn, etc., -- and the Fox Cable News Network -- all of whom devote their airtime to untangling the lies that are fed to us by all the other print and broadcast outlets. The good news is that I believe the truth is winning and will prevail. As more and more people learn they are being deceived by traditional news outlets, they will turn away and seek the truth. I couldn't agree more! Thank the Lord, that someone (Mr.Boone) had the sense to voice this truth and it be published. I just wish more Americans would see this and boycott CBS...period.
