I am so glad that I was sent this page, with the treat of war so close I think that everyone needs to pull together and pray to GOD that our soliders are protected, if it was not for them we would not have the FREEDOMS that we have now. I say we all stand and thank GOD for what he has given us and not to pray quietly, pray together as ONE NATION UNDER GOD. Jen Avon, Ohio

Prayers are being answered. It is time we as Christians stop acting like cry babies. It is time we stand up for the one who laid down his life for us. Don't let this movement die. We must keep it alive from this day forward, and especially when its time to vote.

Your web is fantastic and true to light. This country was founded under God, The one and only true God. Who loved us enough that he gave his only son, for he loved his creations, that much. We are so small in mind and heart that our faith cannot overcome our fear. I believe that this country is our last stop. This country which was built on the belief of God and Jesus is the most properous of the world, not because we were greedy, selfish or arrogant, but because we had a belief system. That system has slowly been changed, if your in doubt, look around you. It's scary and sad. Nobody said that because a priest or nun said this or that, that it was true. You were supposed to search for yourself and find the truth. Our lord didn't make bad people, people chose to be bad people. They had a choice. The people out there who have chosen, "not to believe in God", have made a choice, not a good one, but a choice. I'll pray for you, whenever and where ever I please. If you don't want to hear it, thats your choice. If a person was raised with Christ in there life and chose not to believe in him today, somthing at somtime happened to make you lose the faith. Maybe you felt as if he didn't answer your prayer or couldn't understand why things happened the way they do. He's not here to please or appease us, nor was our father on earth. Think about it, long and hard. There is still another choice. J the Baptist

As a teacher of 4th graders, I would start the first week of school with a detailed lesson on the pledge and flag. We would take each word or phrase, look it up in the dictionary, learn its spelling and meaning, and then be tested on it. We learned about the flag's history and meaning, and how to draw and color it accurately. Each child was tutored until he/she made 100% on the test. Their wonderfully creative flags were displayed in the room for all to enjoy. It was a fun projec, one with essesntial lessons I felt were necessary for the children to learn, not the least of which was patriotism. As a Christian teacher in a public shcool, I had no hesitation in teaching "under God". Occasionally, a Jehovah Witness child would be enrolled, and other activities were provided that did not involve the pledge. I can remember mutually respectful conversations with the parents at conferences where we each explained our points of view. Now I am retired, and I wonder what would happen if I were still in the classroom teaching my "Pledge/Flag Unit". . .for surely, I would not change a thing. Would I be fired? Put in jail? Punished in other ways for teaching that our great nation was created using God's virtues of loyalty, freedom, and justice? I wonder. . . and I wish I had the opportunity to put it to the test! This is certainly one American that would not go silently! MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BE PATIENT AND GIVE US ANOTHER CHANCE TO COME TO OUR SENSES, REPENT, AND COME TO HIM THAT WE, AS A NATION AND PEOPLE, MAY HONOR HIM AND PROSPER IN PEACE. Carolyn

If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land. We Christians have been silent and sadly lukewarm for too many years. Look what ONE person was able to do by getting prayer out of school. If we do not speak up we have no right to complain. What happens when I am offended by NOT being able to say "in God we trust" or pray at sporting events. patpeterson72@yahoo.com

Yes, I do know how to spell "project" and "school" ~ this darn MSN has booted me off so many times, and in this case, I didn't have a chance to proofread my comments. Maybe a teacher making spelling boo-boos gave you a smile, too!! Hope so!! We can use all the smiles we can get during these tense hours of impending war. All American's should unite and send these bleeding hearts self indulging loud mouths back where they came from, although their mother's probably are ashamed of them too. I am tired of being placed last on ever consivable list in the world. Every group of people know to man has a group to protect them, except the average american. If you don't want to listen to prayers, close your ears. If you don't like the flag, blind yourself. If you don't enjoy the freedoms which have been fought and died for get the HELL out. We don't feel sorry for you, and we sure don't need you. If your not part of us, then you are our enemy. If freedom, the flag, the president, prayer, and yes even little children offend you then your very existance is a waste of breath. It is time we stop indulging this small group of low-lives and bring back the freedom we are suppose to be enjoying. If you can't deal with being told the truth, tuff... If you don't like the real world, get over it or kill yourself, however forgive us if we don't morn

If anyone doesn't like it, let them leave or plug their ears. It is a hell of a thing when anyone can use filthy language and get away with it, even on public television and "GP"rated movies that children are allowed to see, but mention the word "GOD"and your in trouble. Damn straight. Forgive the damn part. I think this country is getting too touchy about things and listening to cry babies. This is a melting pot who takes in all races and creeds. The pledge of allegiance should be said in schools, and the words One Nation, Under God should not be taken out. School prayer should be given to give thanks. All religions believe in "A GOD", so what's the difference. The ones that don't want to pray don't have to. Kids now a days are not disciplined in schools because of the fear of being sued by their parents. This is a sue happy country.

MAY WE REINSTATE PRAYER IN SCHOOLS AND IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE KEEP IT TO YOURSELF THAT IS YOUR RIGHT, BUT PLEASE DO NO INFRINGE ON MY RIGHTS OR MY BELIEF'S AND I DO BELIEVE A PARENT SHOULD BE ABLE TO GIVE A SPANK ON THE BUTT IF A CHILD NEEDS IT. SPARE THE ROD SPOIL THE CHILD! I BELIEVE THATS WHY THERE IS SO MUCH CRIME TODAY. THE CHILDREN HAVE MORE RIGHTS THAN THE PARENTS AND THE PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS AND CAN'T DO A THING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I AGREE WITH THIS ALL THE WAY. I MAY NOT GO TO CHURCH AND WORSHIP HIM THERE HOWEVER I KNOW WHERE HE IS AND PRAY TO HIM DAILY. LOOK AT OUR GENERATION ( 30'S) WHEN THEY STOPPED WHIPPING US AT SCHOOL AND DEMANDING RESPECT TO OUR TEACHERS,AND HOLDING THE ONES ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS THEN IT ALL WENT DOWN HILL. WE CANT PRAY OUT LOUD FOR THE FEAR OF OFFENDING SOMEBODY, WELL NOBODY MAKES THEM LEAVE THEIR TV ON ETC SO DONT LISTEN IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TOO IN THIS COUNTRY IT IS YOUR RIGHT TO DO OR NOT TO, BUT GOD GIVES US THAT RIGHT AND SO DOES THIS COUNTRY SO IF WE CHISRTIANS OFFEND YOU THEN LEAVE OUR GREAT COUNTRY AND GO WHERE THEY DONT BELIEVE IN GOD OR ANYONE OTHER THEN A HUMAN TO GIVE THEM LEADERSHIP. I BETTING ON GOD TO LEAD US THE RIGHT WAY AND KEEP US SAVE WHILE WE ARE DOING HIS WILL. NO HE DONT WANT WAR BUT IF IT IS IN HIS NAME THAT WE FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS TO WORSHIP THEN HE WILL KEEP US SAVE. I agree that the silent majority has been silent too long. Why we let others change our country is beyond me. Our country was indeed founded on Christian principles. Others came to this country for the freedoms it offers, then they decide to take away those freedoms. If things don't change soon, then God will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah for destroying them because of all the sin that abounded. We are now as bad as they were. Janis M.

Our Country has always been great with the giudance of God. We have gotten in a lot of judges and politicians that wouldnot have it this way and then congress freezes out the judges who might prevail if given a chance. We can't discipline our children, they are not taught any respect for anyone nor anything. This is really a sad state of affairs. I will never stop saluting our flag (the flag of the greatest Nation on Earth) nor will I ever stop praying and beleiving. Why have our rights been taken from us, something is so awry here. I am for taking our rights back but right now I say we shall all reunite and back our soldiers who are in the Gulf fighting to keep us all free. Thank you for a marvelous page, individuals should have the right to pray to whatever God or Diety they believe in. I had a friend who was an "Atheist" and always tried to convert me from Catholocism, one day while visiting, he had a "massive heart attack"and the first words out of his mouth were "OH GOD HELP ME" I knelt down next to him and said, "but you don't believe in God" he said if God saved him, he would convert, guess what he was saved, and he did convert, and today is a born again Christian, and a devout missionary. He has often said to me, "I WAS SO DUMB, HERE I WAS LIVING IN TOTAL 'DARKNESS' FOR 28 years and today after 48 YEARS I AM LIVING IN THE LIGHT, AND TOTALLY HAPPY. GOD IS FOOD FOR THE SOUL AND MIND, AND THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE GOD IN THEIR LIVES HAVE WONDERFUL LIVES. THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN GOD, ARE 'WASTED LIVES' LONELY, UNHAPPY AND FORLORN, BUT THEY NEED NOT BE, ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS 'OPEN THE DOOR' AND HE IS THERE TO ASSIST YOU, AND BRING YOU BACK TO THE FOLD AND TO BE HAPPY IN THIS LIFE AND THE NEXT. I PRAY EVERY DAY TO GOD, AND HE HAS NEVER LET ME DOWN YET, THINGS I PRAYED FOR AND DID NOT GET, I FOUND OUT LATER WERE VERY DETRIMENTAL FOR ME AND MY LIFE, AND HE ALWAYS GAVE ME SOMETHING BETTER. "WITHOUT GOD IN MY LIFE, I AM NOTHING, WITH 'GOD' I CAN DO ANYTHING. Darl Dolphin - LA. CA.

I agree with this completely and would only add that everybody that agrees should send this to every elected offical in America no matter what their office may be.It is all well and good to agree with each other but it is way past due to rattle the cages of the elected officals and others in charge of educating our children.Being meek does not mean silent door mat.Look at Christ Jesus himself was he silent? Did he tuck tail and hold his tongue? I challenge anybody to show me where the Bible says anything about silent Prayer.I can show you where it says Pray without ceasing.I see it say If you are ashamed of me before men I'll be ashamed of you before the Father. If you came to this page you can do a search to find email addresses of local, state, and federal officals to send this message and any other issue you see that needs addressing. If you don't what message are you sending our God? Are you going to try to say you don't have time to voice your support for God? Are you afraid to state your undying love of God and that you will not tolerate the abuse heaped on you simply because you want to pray out loud? Anybody can get up in front of any body of people at any function and tell a joke ,even off color or out right lude and nothing is said. The Bible says either be hot or cold but warm I will spew you out. You've been warm long enough act and act now.

I fully believe that what this says hits it on head. I believe that if more people stood up for thier beliefs we would not be in this postion. but most Christians are worried about what others might think and they keep their mouths shut. That is NOT what we are to be doing. I don't mean we should be standing on the corner and shouting to everyone but when the subject comes up that is our chance to speak about God and His plan for you. If you don't like what I am saying it's because it hits you where you live. I know this because that was the way I use to feel.

We have been quiet too long! It's time we let the judges & Reps. know that we can be offended to & that we vote also. I want God in our pledge, on our currency, & in our country. Hi. My name is Lana and I truly believe what you say. I did not like it when they took prayer out of the schools and believe in prayer any time and anywhere a person chooses to pray.If you do not wish to join in at a public prayer you do not have to. You should not deny those who wish to. I am an Canadian and believe in God.

I agree with what has been stated on this page. We as Americans can choose not to do something, but the oppertunity to worship a higher power should not be taken away from those who wish to do so. This country was founded on a number of freedoms enjoyed by many cultures. We should not allow the feelings of a few take away the rights of many. This way, all have a choice. Gloria Pestridge

Thank you very much for having the courage to stand up and be counted. To be able to talk over the internet about our Lord and Savior is very corageous. I for one am willing to confess that He has done so much for me that I cannot ever repay Him. Now with the war going on, we all need to fall on our knees and thank God not once, but several times a day. Thanks again. Brownie Lippard.

Thank God I live in the Greatest Nation on Earth. A Free Nation under GOD. I agree with this whole message. It is time the Free People in this great land stand up and be counted. It's the men and women who are in hostil lands fighting for freedom, who give us the ability to be free. Now stand up for them and for this great Country. The rest of you, if you don't like our freedoms, go and see what life under Castro in Cuba is like. I'm sure you would be welcomed with open arms and the Castro Gov. will treat you like Kings and Queens and give you anything your heart desires, just like he does for the Cuban People. Or maybe you would rather go to Iraq and try living under Sadam for a while, OH, I forgot, we are kicking his BUTT out of Iraq right now, so I guess you will have to go to Russia or China. They seem to have great freedoms abounding. GOD BLESS AMERICA AND OUR FIGHTING MEN AND WOMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CW IN ARIZONA

We the people have the right to express ourselves by Pledging Allegiance to our Flag: we have the right to include "under God": one person, one court in California does not have the right to tell us that one person can deny us our rights. Nor does any faction determined to destroy our moral fiber have the right to tell the rest of us we can't post the ten commandments in public buildings, or have in "God we Trust", removed from all our paper money: and one person does not have the right to tell us we can't pray in school. For those who object to prayer and the mention of God"s name, let that person leave the assembly. We do have rights! Edward McDonald Newark Ohio

I agree with those people putting GOD first!!! I get so terribly irritated when I see people burning our beautiful flag because they don't like it. They sould go somewhere else to live and see how long it would take them to return to AMERICA. To all the protestors of this war with Iraq, would you rather they come here and blow up the buildings in Washington, New York and all the major cities? I say keep the war over there and get rid of the groups protesting. I guess that is called Freedom of Speech, but I say put them ion uniform and send them over to fight. We already know that thousands are surrendering to oour troops in Iraq, and why? Because they want a better life like we have. I wil;l keep on saying IN GOD WE TRUST AND GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS AND ALL THE NATIOBS FIGHTING TO KEEP US SAFE FROM PERIL. WE LOVE ALL OF YOU.

I was raised in a CHRISTIAN home my father was minister. It is very sad that some people does'nt believe in GOD.Someday they will find out He is REAL AND VERY MUCH ALIVE!!!! But by then when they finally meet him and He says DEPART FROM ME,I NEVER KNEW YOU.It will then be too LATE!! Because if you are ashamed of him,He will be ashamed of you before his Father.Where do these people that doesn't BELIEVE in GOD,Think they come from in the first place?? If it wasn't for GOD And his SON JESUS(WHO DIED ON THAT CROSS)FOR ALL OF US!!! None of us would even be here!!! My PRAYERS go out to all the NONE BELIEVERS.That they will see the TRUTH before it is too LATE!After all NOBODY ahs the Promise that they will be here tomorrow OR That the world will even be here tomorrow!!MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA!! I have a comment about religion on my website that you might find interesting, its just called religion. I am catholic and I have found faults in the bibles stories, while I do believe in God, there are somethings that just dont make sense. . I do not go to church because I find it hard to go listen to a guy in a dress that rapes little boys while the church hides them. Church is a business and I dont get why they make so much money but they do not have to pay taxes, or some religions that demand you pay 20% or your check to them, give me a break. Are we not suppose to seperate religion and state? Also any religion that is against the war should be sent over to Iraq and see what those people are going through, I dare anyone to go on my message forum and challenge me!!!!!!!!

I wish I had the knowledge and money to fight for the prayer rights in the schools for our children. I received and e-mail of a School Prayer a child wrote. "Now I sit me down in school Where praying is against the rule For this great nation under God finds mention of Him very odd. If Scripture now the class recites, It violates the Bill of Rights. And anytime my head I bow becomes a Federal matter now.Our hair cam be purle, orange or green, that's no offense; it's a freedom scene. The law is precise. Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice. For praying in a public hall might offend someone with no faith at all. In silence alone we must meditate, God's name is prohibited by the state. We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks, and pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks. They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the BIBLE. To quote the Good Book makes me liable. We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen, and the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King. It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong. We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong. We can get our condoms and birth controls, Study witchcraft, vampires & totem poles. But the Ten Commandments are not allowed. No word of God must reach this crowd. It's scary here I confess, When chaos reigns the school's a mess. So, Lord this silent plea I make: Should I be shot; My soul please take! Amen This is so true of how our childrens and grandchildrens lives have become. Without God in our lives and Country we are doomed!! FROM: A concerned Grandparent

I too believe in America's slogan "in God We Trust" It is on our currancy and has been our pledge to America for over 200 years. America has opend it's arms and has let immigrants come to America to live and give them freedom. This has been going on for more years than I can count. I say if you come seeking Freedom then you must first learn our language and speak it at all times. Second, you must not expect a hand out from our government to help you get started, we have American's born and raised here who do not have that pleasure and live on our streets in homes made of cardboard boxes. I am sick of all these immagrants coming to my country expecting to be treated better than our own citizens. But that is what our government has done and continues to do so. If you don't like the way we run our country then go back to where ever you came from, for if our currancy is good enough for you to except then so is our slogan. And it should not offend you in any way. For you were not forced to come live here you chose to do so on your own accord so get with the program and shut up complaining. Or go back to your country!

One of our adment. is the freedom of religion not just one or two religions but freedom to all religions no matter what they be. Be it to believe in God or not we have the right to choose what we want and do not want to believe in. So why does the athiest have to right to protest the God that we do not have the right to pray to any more. If people want to choose not to believe God that is fine and dandy I will not force my God on you but please show me the same respect and not force your unbelieve of my god on me.... you're right. i get so tired of hearing about being offended by the word God. this nation was founded on bibical principles and freedom of religion. how did we ever get this far that we think every time we say something about God we have offended someone. well it offends me to have them take the name of God in vain . It offends me when they talk about the rights to abort a baby, and it offends me to have someone say we have used the religious cause to promote what we believe. if all the people who feel we have offended them just thought about when they die and they stand before God how they are going to explain what they did with his son JESUS they just might shut up about being offended. What if Christ had stouted I'm offended by dying so that you can have a choice to live. the only reason we have so many people opposing our beliefs is because they themselves don't know what christ can do for you and your happiness. How can they defend their own life or life style if they have never tired Christ. you can't knock christianity if you have never tired it. When you have sat at the feet of Christ and felt his hand on you nothing else will ever feel that void. even if you step away for a while. you're never the same until you come back to Christ and the christian life. Try it you just might like it. polly smith

EVERYONE should be willing to pledge allegience to their country. You don't have to say the words "under God" if that's your belief. No one will even notice if you don't. Solve some of your own problems, instead of expecting the whole country to accomodate you!! Those words aren't traumatizing you in any way. You're only complaining because you can. I, too, pray for our serviceMEN - I have one over there as I had in other wars. BUT, don't forget the serviceWOMEN. They, too, have fought in other wars. Lets not forget to mention them explicitly. Thanks for all the comments since I, too, feel that way. We, Christians, MUST speak out and remind those who make all the manmade laws that God handed down laws long before these hu-mans became so wise. This county was build on Christian beliefs by God-fearing humans. I am a Christian and will say my prayer - enven a blessing for food in public. I taught this to my children, my grandchildren and now to my great-grandchildren. I am also an American - a loyal onewho loves my homeland even when I don't believe what our 'leader' are doing. If other people who have migrated here for a better personal life don't like our way of life - they have the FREEDOM to return from whence they came just stand quietly when we pray. We will honor their beliefs and not try to destroy the FREEDOM of religion and their persuit of happiness and a better way of live. GOD bless us, them and America. Even those misguided lawmakers. There should be no frivilous lawsuits. As the leader of Russia said to our country about 50(?) years ago - "We will bury you from within'. They are doing it. We have become a nation of diversity not a United Nation. We must correct that. Thanks. wr

I BELIEVE!!! I agree 1000%, I think that the freedom that our constitution speeks of is freedom for all!! It is not simply freedom for those who are annoying enough to scream about. I agree also with other comments made on this web page, that if people have such a problem with America then go somewhere else. You don't have to live here, you can go live in Bagdad, Bosnia,Croatia, or any other wonderful place on earth. If you think that you have such a tough life in America with people praying in front of you , maybe you should spend sometime in a country like the previous ones and see how many rights you have. Or maybe you could have enough human decency to practice a little tolerance and let others live their lives, and quit being so selfish and only worrying about how things effect us. Like this site says, it's not like Christians are forcing you to be part of our religion we are simply asking for our constitutional right to practice it the way we want. My prayer is that we can all be decent, upstanding patriotic Americans: Who know what that means!!!!!!

Everything you have said is the truth. It is true ,it seems just a few want to push their ideas on the rest of us. Each of us is different and God meant it to be that way,but we must respect our fellow man. Each Religion honors God in their own way,and that is okay. Let those who have no faith of any kind go on with their life and leave the rest of us alone. I don't believe that there is such a person as an athiest, just a person guided to make the life difficult for the rest of us,since they have no life of their own. Our Country was founded on Christian principles. They came to this country to worship as they wished, believing in God.Many gave their life in the many wars so we can enjoy that freedom,so let's not let anyone take it away from us.

I can't fathom their thoughts when the media emphasis is on the war protestors, as they are in fact fighting for our freedom from the very terrorists that would silence their right to protest. A close friend of mine, an astrophysicist (Ph.D.) was once challenged to debate his belief in God on public radio. During the debate, the agnostic monitor thought he had finally stumped my friend when he asked him why so many "educated" people choose to be agnostic or athiest. My friend replied that faith has nothing to do with lack of intelligence. And then my friend quoted from memory Jesus' reply to a similar challenge. You can read Jesus' reply at John 3:19, 20. The monitor failed to orally respond, and ended the debate. You see, he too, was proud, desirous of wealth, security and comfort. May we all respond with humility and grace. May we learn to hate the things of this world that intefere with our fellowship of our eternal Father. And may we learn to love the things that enrich our fellowship with Him. For sooner than we can possibly imagine, we will (prayerfully) be spending eternity in His constant presence. Jim Hassinger

This is a great article that I believe in 100 percent. I hope that its' circulation will touch some of our "so called leaders in Congress" and they will understand that the "silent majority" is speaking. I pray that protesters will read it and understand that they have a loyalty problem. I will pass this along to as many friends as possible and ask that they do the same.

Hi Everyone, All I have to say is one word. "Love!" One day, the Lord lay heavy on my heart the kind of Love He expects us to learn while here on Earth. He showed me how easy it is to love those who love us! Which is good! But what greater love could we give, than to love the "unlovely." I would lay my life down for my children, but would I lay my life down for a stranger? I would go hungry, if it meant my family would be fed, but would I give my groceries to one I saw homeless? I could forgive a loved one who said words of unkindness, but would I forgive a neighbor who spoke words of anger? I have "Love" in my heart when everything is beautiful and good, but is "Love" still there when beauty is gone and the good has gone bad? (LOVE) What a wonderful word! But we will never know what Love is, until we learn to love the impossible! Karen L. Curry

Thank God for the designer(s) of this website! If all Christians would ban together, TRULY ban together and speak up, we would have prayer back in our schools, we would be able to say the pledge without caring who might be offended. This country is being eroded by athiests, muslims and other non-believers because we as Christians have "turned the other cheek" too many times. I for one am tired of the 'political correctness' that runs rampant in this nation. We need to stand up for the One who stood up for us and gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we could spend eternity in the presence of His Grace and Goodness. GOD BLESS AMERICA and GOD BLESS OUR MILITARY AND OUR PRESIDENT!

I have read MANY of the comments posted on this site and they are wonderful! There are also those who continue to NOT GET THE PICTURE!! Yes, Jesus did turn the other cheek, but He also got mad if you will remember, in the temple. He lost his cool, and rightly so. It's time we as Christians lose our cool and get angry that our right to praise our Lord and Savior and say His name in public, is being taken away from us by the MINORITY! It's okay to get angry, as long as that anger is correctly placed. What better show of correctness than standing up for the One who stood up for us and sacrificed everything so that we might have life Everlasting! GOD BLESS AMERICA, OUR TROOPS AND OUR PRESIDENT! Wonderful, wonderful page. I am so sick and tired of certain people suing because they do not believe, do not want to pray or have their children pray or recite the Pledge of Allegience. This is a free country. These sue happy people are stripping our rights and trying to instill their beliefs or non beliefs. If they do not want to pray, etc THEN DON'T. Who do they think is going to care for our troops fighting in Iraq? Yes, they will take care of each other, but they need help from the Supreme Being. I agree we need to rise up let our policital leaders know we are not going to sit back and let someone strip everything away that we believe in. Why do you think this country is turning out the way it has been....no prayers in schools, etc., not being able to discipline our own children, etc. There are more Christians than non-christians. We need to beat them at their game!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree 100% with this comment. I am tired of giving in to these foreigners if they want to live here then let them appreciate what they have and let them change their ways not expect to change ours. We are Americans and we are all part imigrants from other countries which we have inherited from our relatives but we speak English, we obey the laws of this land, we worship God as the one true and only God and we have the right to pray whenever and wherever we choose and if they don;t like it let them leave and go back to where they came from. I am tired of going into a store and hearing them speak in their language and laugh and look at me like they are having a private joke at my expense cause I don't know what they are saying. I say it's time we stand up for our God, our language, our way of life and if someone don't approve let them leave. We are not forcing anyone to stay here and we didn't kidnap them and bring them here. Stand up and be counted for what you believe in and stand firm. Evelyn Johnson

I fully believe that it's time for us to stop cowering behind the threats of non believers. We run and hide from the ridicule of this world, forgetting that God said if we follow his way, yes we would be ridiculed , but he would always protect us and always love us. We act as if their ridicule will tear us down, but the truth is that our lack of faith and our reluctance to stand up for our God is what is truely tearing this world apart. It's time to take a stand and I hope everyone starts that stand by forwarding this message to anyone they can. God Bless you, and God Bless America. Together with Christ we will prevail!!!!!!!!

I stand tall and proud to be a Christian American ! As Christ stood tall & so proudly for each of us at Calvary. Why do we even think or image to waiver our belief for Him. It is because He loved us all that He laid his life down for us. God tells us in His word that where two or three are gathered together in His name there He will be in the midst. He also tells us that He sends His 10,000 angels to help fight our battles. So, according to these words God is already there. Its time we arrive there with Him. Each of our fore-fathers fought for us to have rights / freedom in America. Why do we then want to destory or take away these things or to allow others to take them from us? Do we not want the same for own children / grandchildren and generations to come? Of course we do. Let us each and everyone stand firm on what we know in our hearts to be the solid foundation of lives & the nation. "ONE NATION UNDER GOD - IN GOD WE TRUST". I'm willing to take a stand...I challenge every American Christian to join in this fight. Let Freedom Ring!!! May each of us begin the new day asking Lord what can we do for you or others today...instead of saying what will I gain today. GOD BLESS AMERICA !!! My heart & prayers go out to our troops.

Hello, I agree with your comments, for the most part. I d have a question though: Before the ballgame, if we can accept a Christian Prayer for all of our players..... If we know that there are a few Jewish athletes out there, why shouldn't the Rabbi be allowed to say a few words too? Ditto for the Moslem athletes. And before you ask...I am a Christian. I am an American Christian who believes in equal representation for all beliefs. And I also believe that whether these people know it, or even realize it, whatever you call yourself or your belief system YOU ARE STILL A CHILD OF GOD. And I'll treat you as such.

They are driven by satan to hinder the work of God. Jesus said if you acknowledge me then I will acknoledge you before my Father. It's a fearful thing to stand on Judgement day before the very Christ who made a way of escape for you, and He will say depart from me you workers of iniquity - I never knew you. You have 2 choices - God the Father or Satan the destroyer who hates you because he knows God loves you. Let HIM in - if not - quit trying to keep him out of our lives. I understand the point of view, but I have to disagree. Separating "Church" and "State" is in the Constitution so that the kinds of religious conflicts the world has in most places just don't get started here. The assumption of the point of view in the statement here is that prayers in schools will, of course, be "Christian" -- and SHOULD be. I can imagine the uproar if the prayers were Muslim, Shinto, Hindu, and so on, and if scripture from those religions were posted in schools. Would Protestant and Fundamentalist Christians be happy about paying taxes to support schools in which the children had to listen to Muslim, Shinto, Hindu, Jewish, or some other prayers? There's the rub. I suspect God -- and Jesus -- are very MUCH in the schools (and everywhere else, for that matter). Turning schools into Protestant and Fundamentalist parochial schools and annexes to churches is something that, in this nation which draws its strength from diversity rather than uniformity, can only make everyone who is not Protestant and Fundamentalist . . . upset and angry. There is nothing to prevent people from saying prayers -- of whatever religion or tradition -- as things now are. I think that going any other way cannot help but raise problems none of us want to have to deal with. Religious wars, such as we see in India, for instance, are completely foreign to America. There's a good reason. We've set up our country to keep the business of religion from being something that people can feel is being forced on them. No matter how right any individual religion or faith thinks it is, we have agreed to refrain from making people feel forced. My sense is that, despite the frustrations the statement contains, we're all better off leaving it that way. My faith as a Christian is exactly that -- faith. It is not certainty. I cannot, nor can any of us, "Prove" our faith, much though we'd like to! Nor is it something I would want to try to compel others to believe, just as I (wonderful person that I am!) do. My sense of what God is up to in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior is that He wants us to love and adore Him . . . out of faith, not force. That gentleness of love is what makes Christian faith powerful because, paradoxically, it is so . . . ostensibly weak. I believe God's love is strong enough. I would hope for the gentleness of love. Especially in our schools and public life. That is what makes Christian faith attractive. The gentleness of God's love.

After I read most of the intolerant comments coming from the many so called "Christians", I feel like a sheep among a huge pack of wolves. I began to get an insight into the kind of insanity that had surrounded the Salem Witch trials. I felt like I had gone back in time to the early days in this country. I read a quote from an Indian Chief who said, "When the white man came, first they fell on their knees. Then they fell on the Indians." All that diatribe spouted about the leaving of any who do not wish to love your God? Should'nt you be the one to leave? Pardon me..but were some your ancestors the minority here at one time? At least they were until they pillaged, killed the native people, stole their land, put them on prserves like cattle, and then multiplied themselves by the thousands until they became the majority. Is it fear coming from this country's own history that makes you so intolerant of others and their rights as citizens. Or do you think the "minority" is going to do the same to you as had been done to the indigenous people here. Who in their right mind would want to love "Your God." Your God sounds like a murderous tyrant. I know.... if I don't like it, I can leave. On and on, adnauseum. Most of the writers remind me of a story that was told about a man who was complaining to his God about having to put up with another man for three days. A voice came back to him saying, "You are complaining about three days. I have put up with you for fifty years!" SMFYG.

A friend recently sent me a link to this page, apparently expecting me to agree. I do not. As a good US citizen who holds her right to protest sacrosanct, I must dissent. “What do you think?” she asked me. I told her: I frankly do not and cannot agree with the message of this page. I think that this is one of those cases where "equal rights for Christians" is being used as a euphemism for "special rights for Christians." The fact that Christianity is the majority's religion means nothing: the Bill of Rights is America's way of protecting the minority from the majority, not vice versa. If Christianity gains special rights to which it has no legitimate claim, it will be the first step on the road to an illegitimate alliance between church and state. And as for that talk of America having been founded on Christian principles, the writers of this petition have their facts wrong. Our founding fathers were overwhelmingly Deist. Thomas Jefferson himself believed “that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God”. (Go to http://religion.aynrand.org/quotes.html for sources and more quotations to back this viewpoint up.) Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Christians in general: with all my voluble promotion of religious tolerance, I would be a first-class hypocrite if I did. Many of the Christian teachings measure up to my idea of goodness: peace, mercy, kindness, love, et cetera. What I'm against is the forcing of religion on minorities. Unless all religions present have the chance to pray in public every time there is a public prayer at a public event (private events and private prayer at public events are, in my opinion, do-whatever-you-please) then there should be no mandatory prayer at public events. Those who talk about “stand[ing] up for what's right” have missed a major point: how do you know you’re right? Assumptions like these--that your ideas are the truth, the only truth, and nothing but the truth-- are extremely dangerous. The Communists assumed that, and look where their ideology (a noble idea that really didn’t work, partly because it was never implemented as Marx planned it and partly because it was and still is used as a cover-up for ruthless dictatorship) is today! Having read the comments posted before this one, I must add a few things. First off, I find it interesting how a group of people supposedly committed to kindness, peace, mercy, love, etc. can post such long lists of spiteful epithets describing those of us who stand up for everyone's right to worship as they please. The mere fact that some of us are outspoken seems to have earned us all a place on your blacklist. I understand that not all Christians feel this way about "infidels" and "heretics" and "sinners" and "[people] with no faith at all" (this last being my favorite--so if I don't believe in your God, I'm faithless? Then why haven't I killed myself yet?). Indeed, many of my best friends are Christians, and some are quite devout. However, the few that do exercise such shameless hypocrisy have earned my scorn. Some of the comments talk about how this nation (America) can only regain all of people's natural rights (need I remind you that John Locke believed in religious tolerance?) and "the freedom we are suppose [sic] to be enjoying" by "turning back to God". If you force God into the laws of this country, you are abridging freedom, not extending it. Freedom of religion includes all religions... for all the USA’s law cares, you can worship your toaster. (I once had a friend who spent several weeks worshiping a floor tile. It was hilarious and scary at the same time: hilarious because of the sheer outlandishness of it, scary because of the resemblance to certain organized religions.) What it also includes, however, is freedom from religion. In America, you are “free to worship as you want or not to at all.” No one can be forced to worship; mandatory prayers at public events are a form of force. As for "the right to pray wherever [you] want to," you have it. You can pray alone, you can pray in groups, you can pray as much, as often, wherever and whenever you like. It is your right, and I don't begrudge it. What you don't have is the right to foist your brand of prayer on anyone else, no matter how good you’re convinced it is. ~Alexa, from Ohio

The following is a copy of my friend's reaction to this. I share her opinion. I think that this is one of those cases where "equal rights for Christians" is being used as a byword for "special rights for Christians." The fact that Christianity is the majority's religion means nothing: the Constitution is America's way of protecting the minority from the majority, not vice versa. The entire premise is wrong, wrong, wrong. Unlike other countries, America has been built by immigrants, all from different countries, nationalities, religions. To say "when in Rome" speaks only of Italians. What are Americans? We are Italians, Greeks, Germans, Polish, Chinese, Indian, African and many other nationalities. The only true Americans are the Native Americans. So the "when in Rome" would essentially mean that the rest of us should start praying to the four directions and whatever spirits they believe. I believe that the attitude of Christian superiority is an arrogant one. Most wars have been created in the name of Christiandom, and keep on happening. Islam is an Abrahamic religion like Chrisitanity and Judaism, and look at the Irish, looke at Israel, and look at Iraq...all the wars in "God's" name! I do not and cannot believe in a patriarchal fear-inducing God. I cannot believe in the arrogance of the Church that Christians have built around him. As Matthew Fox once said, "I bet Christ looks down on this earth everyday and thinks, 'thank God I'm not a Christian." I believe in the mysticism of Christ. But, the state and the Christian Church, nor any Church, shall ever be combined. Bush's attempts to bring more Christianity into government are unconstitutional. THERE SHALL BE NO CHRISTIAN or other prayer schools nor in any public place where all nationalities that make up America meet. Our forefathers were very wise in the Constitution and it's amendments. The First Amendment is about freedom to practice any religion as one sees fit, to speak one's own truths, and to not have the government interfere with religion. To equate America and Christianity is a ploy that implies that in order to be patriotic one must be Christian, and that Christian attitudes are the only right ones. If this is true, then we are no different that the radical Muslims who believe in the same way. We are just as arrogant, bigotted, and self-righteous. There is nothing wrong with being a Christian, or a Hindu, or a Jew, or a Muslim, or a Pagan, or whatever one's religion is. But, if everyone else should shut up and listen to you spout your religion, then you should shut up and let all AMericans spout theirs. That would lead to chaos, wouldn't it...and so it's best for all to keep it to themselves, not force anything on anyone, practice as you please, and live in harmony. I don't see your page as some misguided statement of a creed. I see it as political, biased, and threatening to the very constitution upon which this country was founded.

If people don't want or believe in prayer and God that is their right...But it is also our right to pray when and where ever we choose. We need to take a stand and say we are free and we want to pray, and if you don't like it ignore it. We are contanctly having to turn away from things in the public and on Television all the time for the sake of free speech. I say praise God, We are on the road to recovery!!! It is past time for the christians to take a stand. christ said if we are ashamed of him before man he will be ashamed of us before the Father. We have allowed the few to be heard because we thought it unchristian to come out and fight back. Not so!! NO MORE SILENCE! we will stand before our God and be held accountable for what we have or have not done. We have a heaven to gain and a hell to shun. And to be with the heavenly Father will be so glorious. This is the things we as christians look forward to. What has the athiest got to look forward to. Where is his joy each day? He lives to cause strife because he serves and is driven by an evil force. He is miserable and wants theworld to be miserable with him. He has no hope and he wants to take away the hope of the christian world. God is good and he so loved us all that he gave his only precious son to be sacrificed for the sins of all mankind. It is not his will that any should perish but all to be saved for and eternal life in eternity with him in heaven. Just by excepting christ through faith we have heaven to gain someday. That someday looks to be very soon. We may not have tomorrow . we must stand up today for our right to exibit our faith in the God almighty of heaven. He is our creator and knows each of US name. where will you stand when he calls your name and what can you say you have stood for in his namesake? We have got to get serious about our rights that we have lost and are loosing and get into action. We need to fight as hard to reinstate our religious rights as they fought to take them away. Lets turn things back around for christ sake and the sake of our nation. Our countrys future depends on it...Stand up and dare to be bold as they are...defy their presence and bow your head and pray where ever you are . Be passionate about your right to pray..God will honor you when you honor him...GOD BLESS YOU AND GOD BLESS AMERICA , OUR PRESIDENT,OUR FIGHTING MEN IN IRAQ AND OUR LEADERS. VENITA IN TEXAS.

I REFUSE TO ALLOW A FEW DISGRUNTLED AMERICANS TAKE IT AWAY FROM ME. MY FELLOW AMERICANS, I WILL RESPECT WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN IF YOU RESPECT WHAT I BELIEVE IN. IF YOU ARE AN ATHIEST, JUST TELL ME AND I WILL ALOW YOU THE TIME TO PUT YOUR EAR PLUGS OF EAR PHONES IN BEFORE I PRAY. WHEN I'M FINISHED PRAYING, I WILL STILL LOVE YOU AS MUCH AS I DID BEFORE I STARTED. G O D B L E S S A M E R I C A !!! AMEN...... VIVIAN SLACK

I am a believer and I am upset that we can't worship God like we use to be able to. We are losing our right to pray, worship or talk about God. One of these days those responsible for taking God out off our country will relize they made a mistake when God stops blessing our country. We are free to believe as we pleaseand this should not be taken away from us. God has changed my life drastically when I became a christian and i will always pray and worsip Him. No one can take that from me. I may not one day be able to do it publicly but I can do it in my heart and home. GOD BLESS AMERICA and lets keep god in our country. Patty in Florida

We do not need a bunch of "religious" people running around right now....Remember it was the religious people of the day that crucified our Lord.....We need the relationship with Jesus and that is all He wants from us....Thats what makes Christians differant from other people....Its God "showing" himself through and in us.....I cringe when people call me religious, or even spirtual, I am a Christian, its black or white...no gray areas for me.....C Haynes Az.

Samuel Thompson: Thank you so much for expressing in words what I feel in my heart. The silent majority shares your thoughts. when the demonstrators spoke out about the war, we should have expressed our opinions much louder. If we did the courts would change, the universities would become less "anti-religion",and God would return to His rightful place in our country. God bless President Bush and God bless America.

Someone needs to send these atheists and judges a printed copy of the first amendment. Whatever has happened to our freedom of religion? I appreciate the fact that somone took the time to make this page and post it. I'll certainly send it on to my friends and family. May God pour his Spirit upon America, emboldening those who love him, and redeeming those who don't know him yet. Like the song says: Our God is an awesome God - He reigns from heaven above- With wisdom, power, and love, Our God is an awesome God AMEN!! God Bless our troops and President Bush. I think it is great to have this circulating. The only thing omitted is to tell people what to do about it, ie who to write or call to protest the effort to remove "In God We Trust" from our currency and the other efforts to remove any reference to God in our pledge or other areas. Most people are willing to act if given a direction. And if enough people act/respond, the politicians will listen. I was told once by a politician that 30,000 opinions are credited to every ONE opinion that is expressed to them. They know the majority will not turn off the TV and write a note. In the meantime, keep the encouragment circulating loud and clear. The "anti's" speak loud and clear and we must match them or they will win !

I am so glad to see this website and all the people that respond. This poem is right on. In another country I would not be offended by their prayers. That is about respecting and honoring other people even if they are not exactly the same. A good person, who respects themselves and others does not have this problem to deny people. Two things in addition, to grandparents who really made a difference in my life, are a older book by Norman Vincent Peale "Sin, Sex and Self Control"(SSSC) and the Root Causes of Evil and Violence by Mathatma Gandhi. SSSC is really about not being self centered, taking our mind off only ourselves, giving some thought to our actions. Causes are Wealth without Work, Pleasure without Conscience, Knowledge with Character, Commerce without Morality, Science without Humanity, Worship without Sacrifice, Politics without Principles. His grandsom Arund added: Rights without Responsibilities. Think about it. It is never too late. Since SSSC is an older book check your libraries and bookfinder.com for a copy. I had fun doing a write up for a discussion group for singles based on this book, no one came except the moderator and myself. kg

Come on people...get your heads out of the sand. Our great country was built on freedom, faith, and justice. If we honestly have "freedom of speech", then let us be heard. If God's name offends you, then you have the right to be offended, just as we have the right to pray to a God that we believe in!!!!!!!!! I TOTALLY agree with this statement. People from other countries should not be offended by OUR customs. If they do get offended, then perhaps they should stay in their own environment and remain within their own ways of life. All nations have their own customs, so NO ONE should get offended with each other no matter what country they are in....It would be easier if people would accept each others' worship as 'different' from your own beliefs. DOES IT REALLY MATTER WHO YOU PRAY TO? At least it is a prayer of peace and safety for others---THAT shouldn't offend anyone. I put total blame on the legal system (attorneys & judges) for allowing such lawsuits to even enter our courts. There needs to be a point to where they have enough "Honor & Pride" to say --- "That is a bullshit reason for a lawsuit---I am NOT accepting it!" Perhaps some of this crap will stop. I also blame 'cowards' who are always looking for a lawsuit---People like that is a disgrace to our society---this is the part where the attorney & lawyers need to discourage this type of lawsuit. It doesn't need to always be about money---the legal professionals already are over-paid for what little bit they do anyway---so you can always make it up on another case. Just my opinion...which I still have the right to express.... Terri - Covington, KY

If you DO NOT believe in the USA then why did you come here in the first place? If you believe in something besides GOD then that's fine but keep your mouth SHUT, true Americans do not care. We were here first, this is America yes we are free but as true Americans we are becoming slaves to the non-Americans and we must do as they say. Hey when you come to America you need to comform, you need to learn our language and if you don't believe in what we believe in, then you just need to go to the Middle-East, they will understand your "rights" perfectly well after they beat the crap out of you because they don't care.

I agree with your comments 100%. I have wondered, for a long time now, why we that live in this great nation are the ones that have to "bend" every time others do not like our ways. It is just like printing everything in umpteen different languages so no one has to learn English. Why go to another country if you want to keep everything the same as where you came from? I say stay there! I would not even consider moving to another country and insisting they do as the U.S.A. does. English is one of the things that binds this great nation together. There is a lot to be said for the old saying..."Devided We Fall....United We Stand". I like the latter personally. I have decided from now on each and every piece of mail I put through the U.S.Postal system will have "In God We Trust" printed on it. These are the little things that can do so much when a very large portion of the population participates. I believe in Prayer, in our President and the Iraqi Freedom War. I pray daily for all of the above and each and every one of our special Military people that have the desire to protect all of us no matter what our belief is. Thank You for the opportunity to let you know how I feel!! Linda A. Rothschiller Phoenix, AZ

People wonder why the country is in the shape it is in. I lived in an era when you waited until dark to go out and play hide and seek. Now you can't let your children go to a friends house in the daytime without you being with them. In my generation we were raised to respect our parents, teachers, ministers the police and our elders. We have had our parental rights taken away. When our children do as they wish, they cannot be punished. The schools cannot educate properly, because the kids can dissrupt the classroom and the teachers cannot punish them. What is wrong with our country you ask? When our parents or teachers said no, that meant no!! No whining no asking why. We are all alive and well and fortunately good people. There are no rules anymore. It's ok to do what you want no matter who it hurts. If we were all raised properly, there would be no drive by shootings, no kids on drugs, no murders, no prisons. Just remember, if a child nevers hears the word no, he will never say no to drugs, or anything else that comes along. Parents get your rights back!!! We have taken God out of everything in our country and look what has happened. Think about it!!! Our country has always been spared many horrible things that other countries have endured. One of these days God is going to say, if you don't respect me than I cannot help you. I hope I don't live long enough to see what happens when God does not forgive us any longer.
