If you are at risk you should use caution around needles and around blood from others. and above all stay away from drugs and sex. If you have it already cleans the liver naturally and build it up so that it can cleans the blood of the things you got in it in the first place...

Instead of helping other countries, it is time the government OPENED THEIR EYES and start helping their OWN people. There are homeless people, people out of work, no jobs, SENIOR people retired on a MERE sum of money per month and the bills STILL keep coming, NO PRESCRIPTION CARDS. The list goes on and on......... WAKE UP!!!! HELP YOUR OWN PEOPLE FIRST,

I am an American, & proud of it. But, I do not understand why (our) government spends all our money to rebuild other countries, when we need building done here in the USA. Spend our money to help other countries get back on there own feet &(continue paying them.) I don't mind helping them get started , But I also do not understand why we continue to pay, We helped them to start again, now they can help themselfs. We send our money overseas to help people get food & medicine, When our own people are starving, & have no medical coverage. Our vet. fought for this country, risking there lifes, Now have differant illness's & have no medical coverage to pay for treatment. Our senior citizens have worked all there lifes, payed into S.S. So they could retire. Why? They get very little to live on.& Now they even have to do without some meds. because there medicare, or medicade does not cover it.& what they money they recieve from SSI.Is barely enough to live on. God help those that become disabled before they turn 62 or 65. They may get SSDI, But if they are married, there spouse gets nothing. Our goverment got a (pay raise) this year of $1500.00 That is a pay raise? That is more then most senior citizens recieve a month to live on. But we are suppose to pay for our own meds, treatments, & most of our Dr. & Hospital bills. What is wrong with this picture???? Those lucky enough to get medicare or medicade still pay for a lot of there medical needs. We are to pay our taxes on our little $1000.00 a month, But how much taxes does our government pay in taxes ?

Have any of you been tested for hep-c? If not, you need to be. Hep-C is spreading like wildfire thru-out our country, at an alarming rate. There are alot of people that have it right now, but do not even know it, because the symptoms sometimes takes 10-20 years to manifest. By the time they are diagnosed, most times its too late to help them. EDUCATE YOURSELF TO THIS INSIDEOUS DISEASE.

everyone in america is entitled to health care....hospitals cannot turn you away. so don't assume people aren't being treated because of a lack of money. most county health departments will test you for hepatitis for free...they know it's a big problem and they know it will cost in the long run if they don't treat it early. people need to be careful about using drugs because that's how hep c is transmitted. doesn't everyone know about drugs being bad?!? yes, many vietnam vets are infected and that's a terrible thing. but they get treated through their va programs. also, my niece has hep c from former drug use and is being treated through a program she's in.

I got Hep C from a blood transfusion I was given when I had a hysterectomy. I didn't find out I was given it until the next day. Back then (late 70's) they didn't screen the blood for it. Eventually the cirrosis got worse and I had a transplant 3yrs. ago. That doesn't end it there. tho.Your blood is infected so it infects the new liver. But possibly I'll have a chance for another 20 years. The expense of the immunosuppressent is fantastic tho.So I got in touch with the Pharmecutical and got on their Patient Assistance Program. Since I'm now on medicare it's a big help. This was a case of going to the hospital to fix one thing and comming out with something else.

Do you not know we aren't sending money to help feed the people or help them with health problems? The money is sent to the gvt. as a payoff not to make weapons of mass destruction and invade our country. To give us priority to oil or anything else we want. Do you know our gvt. is just as bad as other, people die and we keep it a secret.

I am very thankful for the information that has been shared concerning HCV. Two years ago I donated blood. Two weeks after I donated the blood I received a letter informing me that my blood tested positive for HCV antibodies. What a shock that was. So far though I have had no symptoms. I watch the Benny Hinn TV program. I saw a program, two days after I recieved the letter in the mail, with Bennys' personal Physician talking about HCV. He stated that he has had patients with full blown HCV who when started on Milk Thistle and Alpha Lipoic Acid have actually went into a state remission and he has documented results that their livers have begun to heal. I realize that this might not work for everyone but, I believe it is worth giving it a try. I am sure that it has helped me remain symptom free this pass two years.

Does anyone really think our GOVERNMENT is spending the 84 billion US dollars to rebuild Iraq or that they give a dam less for the Iraq people? It's Bush and his backers that want the OIL and that is the only way they can get it. To heck with the American people, just get the OIL. After they spend the 84 billion and if that dosen't buy the OIL they will be back asking for more. Just think how many hep-c infected people that much money could treat. Hope everyone remembers this when you vote.

Thank you everyone! *** I HOPE EVERYONE SAW IN THE PREVIOUS POSTS - WHEN YOU DONATE BLOOD, YOUR BLOOD IS TESTED FOR HCV *** Itís best to donate regularly to make sure you have not contracted any virus since the last time you were tested. You especially need to be tested if you have a history of IV drug use; snorting (inhaling through the nostrils) drugs, blood transfusions (surgeries, hemophiliacs), and even dental procedures are now being suspected of transmitting HCV. And, if you were part of the mass inoculations in the 50's and 60's, or fought in Vietnam, please, please, go very, very soon and be tested. Finding out you are positive is not pleasant, not at all. But it is important to know if you have it so you can take steps to protect yourself and others. If you drink alcoholic beverages, this is like pouring gas on a fire and fanning it to get it going. If you are positive, you can alert anyone that may come into contact with your blood. Yes, drugs are bad for you. Does this mean people who used drugs deserve to go through an illness that could possibly turn into a long and painful death, leaving loved ones behind struggling with their loss? I would hope there is compassion in this world, and we give our fellowman the opportunity to change their lives for the better. I hope we do not condemn people for the stupid choices they may have made in the past, and hopefully mankind will provide support in whatever way they know how to anyone who is trying to better themselves.

Why has the hepatitis C epidemic affected Military Veterans more than civilians? Veterans from the Vietnam era were more at risk for contracting hepatitis C than any other war. Vietnam-era veterans made up 62.7% of those veterans who tested positive for hepatitis C. The next largest group is post-Vietnam at 18%. World War II at 4%, Korean 5.3% and Persian Gulf veterans make up 3%. Hundreds of Vietnam veterans are being diagnosed daily across America and are almost 10 times more likely to have hepatitis C than the average America. The conditions that existed during the Vietnam era for processing blood, blood products and vaccines were appalling. The blood was not heated despite hundreds of warnings from federal scientists to do so. Prisons have been in epidemic status since 1965. The facilities and other questionable sources, supplied at least fifty percent of the blood processed here and 30% of the blood processed in Canada (Kever Commission Report). The products sold to Canada were turned into gamma globulin, freeze dried (lyophilized) blood and vaccines then resold back to the US military. The products made into military vaccines were not processed according to the strict standards in place today. They did not use proper decontamination processes for the equipment. This same equipment was used over and over again to prepare products for freeze drying. Many Lyophilized (freeze dried) Jet injection Vaccines were contaminated as a result. The military personnel infected shared toothbrushes, manicure items, razors and rags. They had surgery, dental or medial, and received injections with reusable needles. All had finger sticks with reused lancets by technicians that did not wear gloves. Everyone was vaccinated by jet injection. In 1959 a test was developed to detect elevated liver enzymes. Another test, the HB Core Test was developed in 1972, and commercially available since 1975. Nether test was used until 1986. Why? Because the collectors had to pay for the test and then reject donors that tested positive. It would have cost billions of dollars to implement testing. The arm pits of foreign countries, skid row USA and prisons supplied over fifty percent of the nations blood supply during this time. Scientist began to scream "HEAT THE BLOOD" as early as 1968. Needless to say their warnings were ignored. Recently Jet Gun injections used for mass immunizations of large groups, were acknowledged by the Veterans Administration as a likely source of transmission for Hepatitis C. Although they do not admit to Vaccine contamination yet, it is advised ANYONE that received this form of immunization should be tested now. There is a 1 in 3 chance you could be infected. In closing, Lack of addressing all methods responsible for transmission of the Hepatitis C virus explains why only 20% of the people infected with Hepatitis C know they have the disease. The sole focus within our government, whether democrat or republican, is life style choices, i.e., sex, drugs. It is a deliberate attempt to blame the victim and so stated in the Kever Commission reports from the tainted blood trials held in Canada. The more confused we stay, the further into history the whole issue slides. One day it will be just a thing, like the Swine Flu shot that killed millions. Once they get the HCV Vaccine no one will care that our lives were devastated and history will look at the HCV issue as a bad judgment call by government. Billions and Billions of dollars were made because of that judgment call and at the expense of our lives. The only way History will record the truth and know the plight our people faced through the wake of a Genocide, is if you "find your voice now" and hold elected officials accountable for the lives that will be lost, should they choose to continue to ignore Hepatitis C. Texas Hepatitis C Political Action Committee TexasHepPac@aol.com Contact: Ed Wendt, 832-628-7999 TURNER ANSWERS HEP C QUESTIONNAIRE Although Texas HepPac has already announced the endorsement of Bill White for Mayor, we have decided to release the answers of mayoral candidate Sylvester Turner to our election questionnaire. Due to staff problems, and his work in Austin during the regular session of the 78th Legislature, Mr. Turner explained that he did not receive our questionnaire, and, therefore, did not return it by the October 5 deadline. While we stand by our endorsement of Bill White and the rest our slate, we feel fellow heppers deserve to read Mr. Turner's excellent answers. He truly sets an example for all elected officials, throughout the nation, to follow. 1. It is estimated that over 5.8 million Americans are infected with the Hepatitis C virus and over 30 percent develop end stage liver disease. Most victims do not know they are infected. The Houston Department of Health and Human Services only began testing for HCV in the year 2000 after pressure from Hepatitis C activists, certain council members, and members of the medical community. Early detection is essential if Hepatitis C is to be successfully treated. If you are elected to the office you are seeking, would you actively work to make sure the city does more to educate the public about Hepatitis C? Why? How? . Yes, education is the key to prevention of Hepatitis C. Although some 35,000 Americans will contract Hepatitis C this year and 12,000 will die of it, it has not yet received the publicity of other diseases. Hepatitis C can exist in a personís body for years, silently damaging the liver, and yet the infected person is free of symptoms. Symptoms might not show up until the liver has lost 60 per cent of its function. We know it is spread by contact with an infected personís blood and that can occur in many ways. We need to spread the word to not share needles, toothbrushes, razors or other personal grooming devices and also urge people to consider the dangers of getting tattoos or body piercings. We need to let people know that that needle they shared, maybe just once, while experimenting with drugs back in the 1960s can come back to haunt them and that they should get tested if any possibility exists that they might have contracted Hepatitis C. 2. Statistics indicate that there are ten people with Hepatitis C for every person with HIV/AIDS in the United States. Many are co infected. Yet, government, at all levels, is allocating far less money for Hepatitis C than for AIDS education, testing, treatment, and research. For example, during the 2001 fiscal year, around Ĺ million dollars were allocated by the City of Houston for Hepatitis C testing, education, counseling, and awareness programs. Around $150,000 came from the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. Other funds came from the Centers for Disease Control. No local funds were allocated for HCV. This year the city obtained zero funding from state and federal grants and allocated zero funding for Hepatitis C programs. Budget cuts by the 78th Texas Legislature eliminated the 3 million annually allocated for state HCV grants to counties and municipalities. Should the city do more to solicit private and government funds for Hepatitis C programs? Why? Yes, we as a city should do more. If city funds are available, we will use those. As mayor, I will vigorously fight for our fair share of state and federal dollars. We cannot afford to wait. 3. If you are elected to the position you are seeking, what would you do to help improve the city's overall attitude about Hepatitis C? As mayor, I will take a public role in the battle for Houstonís health. As I work to restore funding to our community health clinics, I will see to it that Hepatitis C education is part of our role in keeping Houston healthy. 4. Do you believe the mayor of Houston should appoint a Hepatitis C Task Force to advise the administration, City Council, and Health Department on how to deal with the Hepatitis C crisis as Mayor Lee Brown did when he appointed the task force for HIV/AIDS? Why? Should the task force be independent of the HIV/AIDS task force since Hepatitis C is NOT a sexually transmitted disease? Why? A +++ I will appoint a Hepatitis C Task Force, separate from the HIV/AIDS Task Force. While there is some overlap in persons with these two diseases, Hepatitis C is very rarely transmitted sexually. It requires a different outreach and education effort. 5. Hepatitis C is the major reason for liver transplantation in the United States, and well over 100,000 people die each year, worldwide, from complications of the virus. It is estimated that the death rate (12 thousand annually in the US) will triple over the next 10 to 20 years unless something is done. Should the mayor, as Mayor Brown did for HIV/AIDS, declare a state of emergency for Hepatitis C? Please explain. A +++ I will declare a state of emergency for Hepatitis C. 6. Do you believe the administration should make multi-purpose centers, which are located throughout the city, available for HCV support group meetings as well as education and outreach programs? Absolutely, all city facilities should be made available for HCV support group meetings, education and outreach. 7. The Texas Medical Center is one of the world's leading Hepatitis C research and treatment facilities in the world. Do you believe the city should have a closer relationship with the Texas Medical Center, especially with facilities such as the Texas Liver Institute at St.Luke's Episcopal Hospital? A +++ We should work closely with the Texas Medical Center. And as mayor I will encourage people to become organ donors, since most liver transplants are now because of Hepatitis C. Nationally, over 17,000 people are on the UNOS waiting list for a liver transplant. 8. There are numerous grants available from drug companies and other businesses in the private sector to assist cities in funding education and outreach programs for Hepatitis C. Do you believe the city should better use the private sector for such programs? Please explain why. Any funding that is available should be vigorously pursued. No money should be left on the table in this battle against Hepatitis C. 9. It is estimated that over one-third of jail and prison populations are infected with the Hepatitis C virus, yet there are few, if any, education, awareness, testing, or treatment programs for inmates. How would you help the Houston Municipal Jail deal with this crisis? Would you like to see a joint venture on this, and other medical matters, with the Harris County Jail and Harris County Health Department? As mayor, I will see to it that Hepatitis C education programs are made available to municipal jail inmates. I will establish a working relationship with Harris County officials to encourage them to make such a program available at the county jail. 10. What proposals or suggestions do you have that would help the city better deal with the Hepatitis C crisis? A +++ As mayor, I will educate, fight for funds and solicit the suggestions of my Hepatitis C Task Force. I welcome any suggestions from those who are affected by this terrible disease. Paid for by TexasHepPac, Ed Wendt, Treasurer.

First, I thank you for this allert. Second, I must offer to you my belief as to the question possed: "WHY". My answer is GLOBALIZATION and the UNITED NATIONS. Few people in the United States are aware of the commitment our government is making to the UN on a global scale. Too few Americans realize that our very sovereignty is being threatened by this organization and our government's ever increasing liability toward GLOBALISM. This, over time has caused a new political party to emerge. It is very appropriately named: The America First Party. I do not mention this party's name to encourage or discourage people to join; I only mentioned it because at least some in our country are beginning to get the picture of this threat. Unfortunately, and only as far as my suspicions will allow me, this GLOBALISM has infiltrated into the U. S. Congress and further into our own State governments like a silient plague. I have much more to tell, if you are interested. dvdREARLE@aol.com 11-03-2003

I'm so happy that someone is making people aware of Hep-C. My daughter has or had it. Now in remission. It has changed our lifes forever. It changed her so much that she will not speak to me. There is no answer for this. I have spent hours with Drs. trying to find answers and get advice. There is none. My daughter is 43 and a very unhappy and lonley person. She was a nurse. At this time I have no idea what she is doing. The whole story is much to long to go into here. Just know that any help that can be found for this dragon is needed so much. Sorry about my spelling something I have always had a problem with. God Bless and keep trying. EL

Thank you so much for the information you shared with us. I have wondered for years why there haven't been more public items writen about this desease. In 1961 I had a little girl, and as a results had to be transfused twice. I nurses her for several months then followed up with another baby. Nineteen years later I was told I had hepititis. They said it was not A or B so I didn't need to worry about it. I had 2 liver biopsys and was told that the infection was getting worse but didn't know the cause. It wasn't until 1995 and another biopsy that I had Hep C. I was told by a major health clinic there was no cure. All my family have been checked and no one else has contacted it from me. Thanks to a concerned doctor, he remembered me and told me about Rebatol Combination Therapy. I started it in Jan. 1999 and they had to stop it in Sept. of 1999. All the symtom for Hep. C I had and the symptoms for the drug medication are very, very hard on your body, mind and spirit. Thank God, I am a responder. They have told me I will die with cirrhosis but not die because of it. If anyone does take the treatment they need a very good support system. Not just family members. I was blesses by a group of nurses from the pharmasutical company who called every couple of weeks to see how I was doing and to encourage me and give me bits of info on how to deal with side affects, and there were many. The name of the group was "Be in Charge". I don't know how people deal with the expence on their own as mine was almost $3000.00 every time I had to pick it up. Please go and be tested. Yes, there is a chance you might have Hep C but there is a chance for a cure. I never call it HCV. So many people think it is a pre- curser to Aids. If only one person is checked and treated from your article or one person will question our government about their responsibility you have done a major job. PAT

My sister died, at age 54, in 1997 from complications arrising from Hepatitus C. She had been ill for several years, and had gone to the best research hospitals in the Houston Medical Center, as well as the Scott White Research Center in Temple, TX, trying to get a diagnosis, to no avail. He illness was not given a name, until September 1996, at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, where she was also given her death sentence--- less than 2 years to live. She only lived until the following May. She was told she had contracted this dispicable disease from tainted blood she had received 21 years before, during surgery. Like our family, many are unaware of this disease.

I too, suffer from this deadly disease of HCV and have no insurance to help. I am a single woman making less than $16,000 a year. I have decided to do the herbal support treatment for this because I cannot afford treatment and neither can the clinic I go to. They have less knowledge about HCV than I do. I calculate that within the next 5 years or so I will not be able to take care of myself or my Sheltie, Jake. I imagine that sending so much money over to distant lands is a Godly thing to do, but I do wonder if God would have us forget the ones in our own backyard. I don't think so. ** Dear Sandy Armitage ** I am so very saddened to hear you lost your husband. My family situation is somewhat similar to yours, but I am the one with Hep C, my husband of 27 years does not have it. I'm the one that wrote that first letter. (I would put a paragraph here, but I don't know how you all are getting that to work! I'll use ^ instead) ^ I went around and around with folks trying to figure out the issue on hep c being a STD. I talked with medical doctors, activists, and other folks that have hcv, or have a loved one with hcv. I'll try to explain what I was able to find out. ^ Usually, but not always, a person that contracts hcv thru sexual contact, also gets another virus along with the hcv, sometimes it is hiv along with hcv. co-infection, having both virus's at the same time, is all too common. The best I understand it is hcv can ride "piggy-back" on the hiv virus, infecting with hiv and hcv at the same time. I do not know if it has been determined yet whether or not hcv can "ride" on another type of virus besides hiv, maybe on hep b, or hep a, I really can not say. ^ Besides transmitting HCV in this "piggy-back" manner, the only other route they truly believe spreads hep C is blood to blood contact. Hence, it seems to me to be a misnomer if HCV is labeled an STD, when in reality, the chances of spreading this virus by sex is very, very minimal, but possible. I believe they have determined the only ways to transmit HCV is if there is blood to blood contact during sex, or maybe co-infection along with another virus. STD's are spread because of sexual transmission, not blood or viral contamination. ^ Wish I was a doctor, or someone with better knowlege. Maybe someone else will comment. I hope this helps as my heart breaks for you in your loss. May you have a happy heart and many blessings coming to you soon.

What else can this administration do to damage us, & our country??? How many of you are still standing behind him and why? Where are all his promises? How many more countries can he get mad at us? Did you know that our President stands # 13 on the chart for I.Q's? His Dad is 12th.....Us ordinary folks have I.Q's higher than the guy running our country and it shows.....We need medical help, less jobs being sent overseas, more help for our education systems, where are we going to be with less educated kids?????? Once you think our economy has hit bottome we hear of something else. While he flaunts and poses in front of a camera or out raising money for a campaign. As the fighting gets worse in Iraq and the money from here keeps flowing in, I get more frustrated. Did you hear Jessica (the little military gal that was wounded & captured) talk? She said that we weren't prepared to go over there in the first place.....Doesn't take a genius to figure that out, but he sent them and still at it.

I am a Vet with Hep C and all of these stories are true and I hear more like them evey day. One way that we can all help is to write your Senators and Congressmen and urge them to support Senate Bill 1143. This bill is on the floor and is a great START to getting goverment help with this epidemic!

I am shocked to learn so many people have this virus and so little is being done to help the afflicted. I know the U.S. is considered to be the answer for every country's problems, but it is time to pull back the reigns and start helping our own. We cannot stay a strong nation if we cannot keep our own population healthy. The health insurance and prescription costs here are astonomical, if there are solutions as promised by whoever, where are they? Someone needs to be held accountable for making sure that every American is getting proper treatment and that research is our #1 priority. We are the leader of the free world and we are letting down our own while opening our purse to the rest of the world. I am so angry with all the political obstacles and new promising drugs being delayed for long periods of time. It is so sad that our government is not ear-marking huge amounts of money for new treatments for hep-c.

I have been fortunate to have health insurance most of my life through employment. However my wife and I have found that those most qualified to to give the treatment that worked were either not covered by the insurance or only portions of the treatment were covered. We have asked the Lord to guide us to the right person, book(s) and etc. for the right answers.Go to health food stores get books related to health and read them until itstart understanding what YOU need to do for You. Get pluged into what your body is trying to get across to you. The answers to most of the situations people have with their health is the proper diet for them. If the diet they have been useing isn`t helping perhaps you need to find out why and change it. A lot more could be said on this subject but it would be so long no one would read it. As for all this talk about our own government paying for all of our health care. Just think about it. Do you really want to live under a socialistic government?

"As for all this talk about our own government paying for all of our health care. Just think about it. Do you really want to live under a socialistic government?" The operative word you used in your reply is LIVE. Yes we want to live. To go from government health care to a socialist government is a giant leap you just made. After January 1, and the changes take place that will release your insurance from having to pay for many accepted treatments and test and hospitals are not longer forced to treat the needy. we will see if you don't have a different attitude. I pray you remain healthy, we all had better pray for that. We're in for a rude awakening, and we have been sounding the alarms but none would listen.

I believe that the reason Congress does not care to give us protection is two-fold 1. They have their own insurance and health care at no cost to them and for life. 2. They see no votes in it for them. I found by reading the articles that I learned more than I ever knew about HEP-C. I learned that it is not very well understood & can be fatal My oldest son ( a very responsible person all his life) died last year at the age of 51. He had been diagnosed with this disease 2yrs. before than. He became exhausted, down & depressed no matter how hard he tried to overcome it. He fell into alcaholism which of course was the final defeat that led to his death. Noone really understood or sympathized with his problem. Friends & family kept telling him to "just get on with his life". It is so sad especially for me, his Mother live with even tho' I did all I could to help. Thank you for the information!! Betty N.

I'm writing this in response to Betty, the mother that lost her son to this disease. Hon', I'm so sorry for your loss, your pain you must feel, & the frustration it creates. I am also a Mother of 4, grandmother of 4, & understand exactly how you're feeling. I also have hep-c, but thank God, I was diagnosed before it got too bad. I am looking at having to undergo treatment very soon, which is a grim thought at best, but at least I still have a chance to put this 'dragon' to sleep, God willing. I'm praying for you, Betty, for the Lord to ease your pain, give you His comfort & strength. If you ever want, you can contact me at: txbrneyedlady@yahoo.com My name is Barbie, & I am the one who helped write this to send in to this awesome site. Thank you for allowing us to 'be heard' here at your site. May God always bless you.

http://groups.msn.com/HEPCSUPPORTGROUP/mystory.msnw Click the above link to share your hep "c" story I think I have had hep "c" since 1984 the best I can figure. The name DRSLETMEDOWN came from the following : I had been to various doctors since 1984 trying to do what we all are told to do ! get yearly checkups so if something is wrong you will catch it early. I had blood work done everytime & always said I want you to check for everything. I had alot of weird things going on over this time period & was always left with the feeling that the good ol doc didn't take much of it too seriously. I have GERD, acid reflux & take prilosec daily, Had to get on blood pressure medication, Had alot of back & joint pain that was always eluded to as well your getting some arthritis it's common for that to happen in your 40's attitude. I had had some major cramping & diarreah, & then panic attacks & waking up feeling like someone had put a pillow over my head, & couldn't sleep well ect. tossed & turned all night. Got the feeling from the doctors that they just thought it was in my head. I started taking zanax & it seemed to make things better it took off that edgy feeling. In November of 2001 my dr. didn't like my ast & alt's so he had me do the hep " C " test & that's when I found out I had it & my nightmare began. HOW, WHY, WHEN, all those questions you ask yourself.? I have been married since 1984, true to my wife, no tattoos. no piercings, didn't do iv drugs ect. So I went & pulled all my medical records from the last 15 years from all the doctors I had seen plus records from the hospital 2 different ones I had been in for kidney stones & disk probs in my neck & back & to my surprise every single time anyone had done blood work during that time it had always been out of the normal range but I was never once told. ( More than twice the level that got this doc's attention ) If I had known I would never have had another beer, instead I drank for those 15 years regularly I liked my beer. That of course as we all know now is like putting gasoline on a fire. I have had it up to my ears with drs that have no bed side manner all they do is try to save the HMO's money. I am on my wifes group insurance company She is a school teacher & it changes every couple of years. The cost goes up & the Benefits go down every time not to mention having to loose your doctors & look for new ones, As of January 2004 we will have 3 choices for family coverage ranging from $600.00 to $1000.00 a month. & when you use it you feel like you are a well fare patient. Cigna is who we have now & out of a provider book that is small to begin with 200 doctors in that book aren't taking new patients & I had been on a waiting list with one of them that I know is a great dr.for 6 months he called & said I now could see him, called Cigna they said sorry no can do we froze the pannel of drs that he is affiliated with & would not explain any more than that. So that eliminated another 48 drs. out of the provider book. If we would use the ppo version which is out of reason we would have more choices. The presciption drug company they use Caremark where you mail in your prescriptions re filled my prescription that they had already filled once & that had 2 more refills with a totally different medication & said they had ask my dr if they could change it & it wasn't even the generic form just totally something different. SOOOOOOOO ENOUGH OF THAT !!!!!!!!!!!!NO MORE PITTY PARTY Good thing is all my lab work is in the normal ranges, I haven't drank since February 2001 ( YEA FOR ME ) I am geno type 1a which doesn't have a good response rate so I am not treating now. My sonogram looked fine. I have not had the biopsy which I know is the test that tells the truth but knowing my geno type, & knowing that for 15 years I drank beer daily I don't see the use. My gastro justs wants to do all the labs yearly at this point. As someone that has had time to catch my breath & inform myself about this disease I am not in the least worried about it anymore I am going to live one day at a time. Trust in the Lord he has the final say in everything. Ask, ASK, & ASK Again, you will find that you will learn in a short period of time what most drs. don't know about hep c & when you do you will see a different attitude from your dr. when he see's that you know what you are talking about. God bless each & everyone who reads this & please feel free to re-post this post any & everywhere you can, people deserve to know the truth.

I do not know when the people of this country started thinking the "government" should be taking care of us from the craddle to the grave. My daughter was born with Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disease. We did not expect the government to take care of her very expensive medical treatments. We were told she would not live to be 6 years of age. We did a lot of research, found a good doctor and used a mixture of diet, medications and home respirory drainage treatments. She lived to be 32 years old; married and had a child. All of this without any government handouts. I have a nephew that was a drug abuser and is now living off of the government, medicaid and state health, getting treatment for Hep. C. It burns me up. Get real. I do not expect the "government" to provide for me. My husband and I worked and saved for these senior years. We knew better than to expect to live on Social Security. Where is your backbone? How many televisions, cars, clothes, vacations and etc. does a person need? Take care of yourself, do not expect someone else to be responsible for you. After all,the "government" is us, our tax dollars. I do not want to spend your tax dollars on me and I do not want to spend my tax dollars on you.

I ONLY SAW THOSE WITH HEP C COMPLAINTS, HOW ABOUT THOSE WHO HAVE ORPHAN DISEASES THAT THE DRUGS THEY NEED ARE SO COSTLY MOST INSURANCES WON'T PAY FOR THEM....YET, I WATCH ON A DAILY BASIS, PEOPLE THAT FAKE ILLNESS (THEY SIT IN MY OFFICE AND TELL MY SUPERVISOR HOW SICK THEY ARE AND THEY GET COMPENSATION)THEY GET EVERY MEDICAL BILL PAID FOR, SOME OF THEM HAVE SPOUSES WHO EARN 100,000 OR BETTER AND THEY GET A MEDICAL CARD...I HAD ONE CLIENT WHO HAD 3 CHILDREN, PUT HIMSELF THRU COLLEGE ON HIS MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND THEY DAY HE GRADUATED, HE NO LONGER SUFFERED FROM DEPRESSION AND BIPOLAR DISEASE...GOD SURE WORKED HIS MIRACLES THAT DAY...PEOPLE CHEAT THE SYSTEM EVERYDAY, THEY ARE THE ONES THAT ARE DRAINING OUR SYSTEM SO THAT THOSE THAT REALLY NEED IT CAN NOT GET IT....ELDELY AND THE YOUNG ARE CHEATED AGAIN....PRIVATE INSURANCE IS OUT OF THE QUESTION FOR MOST OF THESE PEOPLE....AND THEY EARN A DOLLAR OR 5 DOLLARS TO MUCH TO QUALIFY FOR ASSISTANCE....IF YOU FIGURE ALL THE MONEY RAISED EVERY YEAR FOR MDA, CANCER, HEART FUND, UNITED WAY ETC...YOU WILL REALIZE THAT HEALTH CARE IS A BIG BUSINESS AND NO PRESIDENT, SENATOR OR CONGRESSMAN WILL TOUCH THE GOLDEN GOOSE....

I've just read the comments regarding Hepatitis C Virus, and am really shocked at the stupidity of some of these comments. Don't you realize that the problems of our Health Care in this great country are not only the blame of our Presidents, but of the people I, and you, elect to Congress. My mother is 89 years old, has S.S. of $741. a month, and a small pension of $120. After she pays her taxes, oil, electricity, telephone and food, she also has to pay for her 12 prescriptions for diabetes, high blood pressure and glucoma. The only way she can survive living in her little home with pride is with help from me. BUT - what about these other older people, who are not as fortunate - who can not afford their medications and yes, eat dog food! My mother, who is legally blind, can not get Medicaid because she makes too much money a month! $861 with no other source of income is too much money? The only way my mom could get help is if she cashed in her $8000 insurance policy (funeral money) and paid over $150 a month to Medicaid! Give me a break. My mother worked in a dress factory, paid into her Social Security and paid her taxes. When I tried to get Medicaid help for her, I sat next to a young woman (25-30 yrs old) who was waiting for her social worker. She was out of work, and wanted more money - didn't plan of telling them that she was getting unemployment insurance! I never saw such a bunch of sleeze-bags in my life - Young sloppy men, unmarried pregnant woman, all waiting for the handout, yet the old or truly poor can not get help! The problem with our elected officials is that they are forgetting the reason they were elected to office - AND that charity begins at home. Sorry to say it, but this country is going downhill fast, unless the silent majority finally stand up and YELL - WE'VE HAD ENOUGH!

I have Hepitis-C, I first discovered it after a routine blood test. I did drugs for years, smoked pot, drank heavly, smoked cigs, abused myself for years. I happen to have aquired the problem from dirty needles in a tatoo parlor. For 20 years I have been treating my body like a temple, eating right, exerciseing daily, staying away from places and people that can have a negative inmpact on me. I try to maintain a level of fitness and maintain my weight and not consume any products that can put added stress on my liver, that also includes the water I drink, the products I put on my body, the toothpaste I use, the food I eat. I use herbs to help purfify my system. I drink cleansing teas everyday. Organic is the way to go. My enzime levels were high when I first discovered this problem and after some years of cleansing my blood and cleansing my liver along with what I stated above, my enzime levels are now normal. My plan is to beat this problem using natural items and having a positive thought process. I think to myself everday that this is not going to get the best of me. You can defeat diease by using your mind. I have been using some product (liquid supplements, not pills) that clean you body and also give you all the vitiamns and minerals you need daily. I have seen these product do some amazing turnarounds for people. If you would like some info or would like some help feel free to mail @ revelationscoming@charter.net
