You can fool part of the people part of of the time but you can't fool all of the all of the time. Oh Yeah, both parties are doing what they are best at just fooling us!!!! Of the people and by the people, but not for the people. We need business for economic resons, but we don't need them runing our government through various ways.

The time has come for a Third Party, one that has the benifit of all Americans in its platform. Why is it that neither party is willing to support the other party when they have an idea that will be accepted by the people willingly ? The answer is very simple; If one party supports an idea of its opponent it will " look bad " for them, you know, the other guys have a good idea and we didn't come up with it and now we look stupid. \It is time to put aside " partys " and get back to doing for the people regardless of which party you belong to. At one time I was infavor of doing away with all political parties and resorting to a unicameral government. I since have realized that that would be a mistake and that a variety of ideas is best, but not the jealous competition of the present bunch of currupt politicos that live on the tax payers of this country'. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer and the middle class is busting thier collective asses to keep up.

As a Christian it sickens me that so many "well meaning" brothers and sisters trash gay and lesbian Christians. This is hate at it's worse. What's even more disgracefull is the cruel and vicious lies made in the name of God to denounce homosexuality. Jesus NEVER said ANYTHING against the homosexual condition. All references to the "abomination" in the old testament had to do with "sins" of dietary code violations or male to male rape. Also, I may find abortion offensive but killing innocent people in a war based on a lie is more evil. To support a man like Bush who is unwilling to admit his mistakes makes one equally guilty. I pray for peace and understanding in this ignorant and intolerant society in America. Please pray with me for peace especially if you disagree with me.

Why do we feel it necessary to judge a man because of the branch of service he chose to serve?? What kind of ridiculous hierarchy is that?? Why can't we judge men and women by their word?? I agree with the original post--this country and our elected officials should no longer be placed on office based on what party they represent. This is contributing to the demise of our own country. We are strong, but we are FAR from united. Each man should be allowed his view and stand beside his/her brother with armed outstretched even if they are democrat or republican. 9/11 was a horrible tragedy, did we not see the most beautiful thing come from it...how it united the people of these states we live in??!! People--listen....our children and their grandchildren will have nothing if we don't unite them now. This country is breeding hate and intolerance. To begin---the liberals need to look up the word tolerance. It means that we tolerate all people, even those whose views are not like ours. Even if their views are discriminatory or hateful. They have a right to them. Remember -a man's right to make a fist should only end where another man's face begins. !! God bless us all

I share your disappointment with the fact that Mr. Bush chose the Guard instead of making himself available to serve in Vietnam. But, I sure as hell don't think the solution is sending John Kerry to the White House. First, Kerry abandoned his fellow veterans when he left after 4 months and 3 extremely questionable Purple Hearts earned while not losing 1 minute of duty. It is true that Mr. Bush did not serve in Vietnam. It is equally true that he didn't go before Congress and trash his fellow servicemen. More importantly however, is his sorry record as a senator. We need to leave Vietnam and ask ourselves what he would bring to the Presidency. If his record as a senator is any indication, there would be hell to pay.

This is my first post on this site and after reading the many letters previously posted I find the only pro-Kerry letters were wtitten by females. Kudos to Sherry, Kathie and Brenda. This 73 year old Army Veteran who served my country at the time of the Korean War agree with their position. It boggles my mind as to how anyone, especially veternas can trust and support George W. Bush to be our Commander in Chief...When Secretary of State Colin Powell wrote in his autobiography, "I am angry that so many of the sons of the powerful and well placed managed to wangle slots in Reserve and National Guard units. Of the tragedies of Vietnam, this raw class discrinination strikes me as the most damaging to the ideal that all Americans are created equal"...At the time of the Vietnam War, it was common knowledge that the National Guard was one way of evading going to the war front in Vietnam. With the influence of "powers to be" Bush was able to bypass the long list of applications, to avoid being drafted. What we have here is a cheerleader, not a leader,(Bush was a cheerleader in college). It takes a leader to be Commander in Chief and John Kerry is that man. It's too bad more men on this site don't see it that way ...Richard W. Lewis, Sr.

I believe we stand at the crossraods as a nation - which should be One Nation UNDIVISIBLE. We should stand up for AMERICA and not try to tear it down. Do we PRAY FOR WISDOM and for what our LORD would have us do?? I will cast my vote for the man who is BOLD enough to proclaim his christianity/Love for the Lord, to all of the world and admit he need our prayers. He is not perfect, but there is NO perfect person on Earth - they wouldn't be here if they were, but at least he is not standing in front of us and lying about his past and making claims too far out to even think he could follow. George Bush inherited problems that were beyond his control when he took office - NOW he is supposed to take care of all of them?? We must elect Bush and continue to hold him in Prayer as it is a momentous task he has inherited. God's JUDGEMENT will fall on a wicked nation, this is no playful matter, we should WISELY and PRAYERFULLY VOTE for the only proclaiming Christian.

Hello again Kathie is right when she said that he tried to kill my daddy. You who posted last better check your information. I want to thank you whoever you are for clearing up the details of impeachment. True they where never convicted. I myself truly wholeheartedly believe the only reason that Bush went to war was because he wanted to get a foothold over there in the middleeast for the purpose of the oil. Remember the pipeline that went in over in Afganastan? Why did'nt he capture Binladin when he had the chance. Why because his family is tight with the Saudies and there money, and the Saudies are making plenty of money for the Bush family. Please people I pray you people who say you are religious wake up and open your eyes to the truth. Don't mean to offend anyone but I feel this to strong not to speak my mind. Thank you for letting me speak my mind. Sherri

Kathie, where in the world do you get you information? You have never, and I repeat never, heard George Bush say he went to war because Saddam "tried to kill my daddy". You may have heard Kerry people say he said it, but that doesn't make it so. As to your assertion that we are no longer a proud and great nation, that is just plain bunk. I don't need confirmation from fair-weather allies like France and Germany to know that we are still the most generous and peace loving nation on earth. Yes, we are at war, but it is for the noblest of causes - freeing a country from oppression. Has it been conducted perfectly, absolutely not. That doesn't make it wrong. Having said all that, you know what, if what is going on doesn't make you happy, you have the right to vote for change. This may come as a stunning shock to you, but if your side loses, maybe your side is wrong. Think about it.

I am new here, and have read through a few posts, and comments. I would like to add a comment of my own, if permitted. I have been following this election constantly because I have a very deep fear from what has happened to our country. It has been our country, but little by little, we are losing the "our part of it." It doesn't matter if you are rebublician or a democrate, what really matters are the facts. We had an election that everone knows in their hearts, wasn't right. We had a person put in power who had come from playing though most of his life, until he became governor of Texas. We went into a war because he wanted to at any cost. Does anyone remember him stating "He tried to kill my daddy?" I do, and Im sorry, but that's not good enough to do what he has done. We were a proud nation before Bush, and we were a respected nation, before Bush. We have lost all of that because of a little man who wants to be a dictator. Think I'm wrong? Why is it that our media reports what they are told to? Why is it suddenly alright to make a film by cutting the statements up from people to conform to your needs? I truthly feel we are in greater danger now than we have ever been. Thank you for giving me your time. Kathie

Our President has been criticized for his personal relationship with God. I personally find that a very important reason to respect him and the fact that he relies on prayer and guidance. This great country was founded on freedom OF religion, not freedom From religion. I sincerely believe George W. Bush is a strong leader who inherited an awsome burden, not to mention the aftermath of our country being attacked. The attack was not the first on American soil but it was the beginning of counter attacks to stop the enemy from killing on our soil. I think he gave the UN and others ample opportunity to join us in the fight against terrorism. He however did not wait for their stamp of approval for our right to fight back wherever the terrorist may be rather than waiting for them to blow up a few thousand more of our citizens. I pray the people of this country will wake up and realize we need strong leadership, a man who sticks to his word regardless of wheather or not it is politically correct. I pray for George W. Bush and for this great Nation, Under God......

OK, I'm a pretty busy guy, so I'm only going to explain this once. President Johnson and President Clinton are the only two presidents to have been impeached. Impeachment proceedings were started against President Nixon, but he resigned before the house could vote knowing that he would be impeached. It is true that neither Johnson or Clinton were convicted. Impeachment and conviction are two completely different procedures in our government. The House impeaches and the Senate convicts. Your welcome.

I wanted to say I am a Christain and can't believe some of the comments on here. I will be voting for Kerry because I believe he is a man of honesty. Look at his record, he was one of the men that investigated the Oliver North ordeal. He clearly states his mind and if there is something wrong with that then I am not living in America. He stands for the people to have the right to choose, not be told what they should do. Even Jesus does not tell us we have to serve him, (we make that choice). I do not agree with abortion or gay and lesbian marriage but this is a free country. When it comes my time I am the one that will answer to God and nobody else. I have to agree with Brenda from Florida, if you want to see hard times elect a Republican. Funny how the only President impeached was a Republican! Sherri from Ohio

If John Kerry is so concerned about jobs in America, I wonder how many American's Mrs. Heinz Kerry employs in these foreign countries. I find it difficult to read the posts by folks who prefer to SHOUT (IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS) rather then state their opinion in a reasonable tone. Having said that, I understand the frustration some of you anti-Bush people may be feeling regarding the war in Iraq vs. domestic issues that seem to be going unattended. To you I can only say that President Bush is doing what is necessary to protect this great nation of ours from the very real terrorist threat of the likes of September 11, 2001. What many don't get is that terrorists, like Nazis did Europe in WWII, are threatening us in a very personal way. You, me, Aunt Edna, widowed Mrs. Cooper down the street, the guy at the meat counter, absolutely every United States citizen reagardless of race or religion is hated by every terrorist network and they all want us dead. Sounds farfetched? If you didn't get their message on 9/11, what else will it take? After 9/11, we agreed that terorism needs to be stopped wherever it exists, and it existed in Iraq and still does. If we allow this threat to continue, there won't be a need for any domestic programs.

We are the richest, most productive country on the planet and getting better every day. Homeless, are you homeless Brenda? There are hundreds of programs designed to help any homeless person who asks for it. Health care, in one form or another, is available to EVERY person currently residing in America. Not just citizens, ANYONE who lives here. Since the tax cut was based on a percentage, it makes sense that someone who pays more would get more back. Brenda, let's say your right about what a horrible and degrading experience it is to live in such a rotten and dispicable country as your America, are you going to tell us that these deplorable conditions suddenly appeared in the less than four years Mr. Bush has been president? Please!! Do not forget the planners of 9-11 began planning many years before Mr Bush was elected. Do we have problems, of course we do, but it would be national suicide to expect someone like kerry to fix them. For you woefully misguided persons who have spoken in support of kerry, let me remind you of one very important irrefutable fact. When kerry returned (early) from Vietnam and turned against the men he left behind, his outrageous charges of wholesale rape, murder and numerous other atrocities that he categorically stated were committed by our servicemen gave direct aid and comfort to the enemy. There is no question that the his actions resulted in the loss of many American lives (we will never know how many) kerry's service in Vietnam has been shown to be highly questionable, but even if everything he tells us(ad-nauseam)about his heroism is true, any deeds he may or may not have accomplished are negated by his post-Vietnam actions. Is this really the the man you would have as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States of America.

What must God think of all the people who claim to be a Christian and vote this way. Do you rally think God won't ask you about this when you have to face Him on judgement day? Think of this, You can be fined big fines and maybe even go to jail if you step on sea turtle eggs or crocodile eggs, but go right ahead and kill as many babies as you please, what have we come to. This is why I think this is our last chance to make some changes in laws, & judges on federal courts, if not we won't know this country anymore in a few years. The President we have now, is one of Christian faith. He is in line with the foundations of this nation, both God and freedom. He makes a decision and follows it, which is more than what past presidents have done. He also supports and prays for our military, which is very comforting. Our military is the reason we have such freedoms in the first place, so shouldn't we have a President who supporst them? Kerry boasts about his Vietnam combat experience, but doesn't talk much about the protests he attended after the war. Or how he threw his medals back over the White House fence. It's pretty obvious how he really feels, and that half the crap he's putting out there is to get him elected and not what he really intends to do. Go Bush!!!!

It matters not who we vote for because the U S of A is in a downward spiral turning their back on GOD and his commandments.Example: the super bowl halftime show, Gay marriages, takeing "under God" out of the Pledge of Alligence.Next they will want to take "In God We Trust" off currency. Influential people with much money want to take the guns from the hands of the honest citizen. History shows citizens without guns is a defeated nation. Maybe Bush will be in for four more years, but what I fear most is who is waiting in the wings.America can't survive another Clinton. Belive me many ignorant Americans will support her for president and most likely she will win.I fear for the future of my children and grand children if Jesus doesn't come back soon to gather his flock. I have never agreed with political party lines. I think they discriminate people and they hide the reality of what someone believes in. IN MY OPINION, parties should be eliminated and those running for public office should state what they believe in and what they'd like to see happen. I disagree with the political ad bashing. That just tells me they have nothing intelligent to say about themselves, but plenty to use against others. Why would I want a person like that in office? Especially to run our country? Our president is only as strong as our Congress is, so I believe that voting for my congresspeople is more important than voting for our president, even though he has veto power. But anyone who is elected president better be a person of good will, honesty, and integrity who will not abuse this power. I think it's honorable when a public official states his or her position on important issues, but it's also very important that he or she does not bring personal opinions into his or her job. As a public official, you work for the public, not yourself. Voting this year will be difficult for me. I have been undecided about who to vote for ever since campaigns began in 2003. I may not exercise my right this year depending on who steps forward as the good, honest and decent person. I just don't see that happening any time soon!

As for voting, I vote according to the persons' past record...do they stand for pro-life, one-man-one-woman marriage, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (our standard of living), the laws being made through Senate ruling or by judges making their own laws as they will, etc. These are the standards that I vote for, and if politicians are against these, I know they have their own adgenda and not the adgenda of the nation, and they don't get my vote. And, I agree with the other comments before mine...where are these other better 25 countries and why don't you go live there? If you, by some chance, are refering to such countries as Canada, England, Norway, Sweden, etc., then perhaps you should take a closer look at their loose lifestyles and the morals of those nations. AND I WANT TO KNOW WHY YOU HAVEN'T POSTED AN ANSWER TO OUR QUESTIONS...OR YOUR NAME??? I am THANKFUL TO BE AN AMERICAN! Donna McQueen in Montana

I feel at least we have the freedom to vote and what upsets me the most is the way someone puts the other person down by negative comments. Where is the honor and the going on your record. I will say one thing, George Bush made a decision and he went with it as War Presidents befor him, be it right or wrong, he wasn't wishy washy. I will vote for him again. I feel he is an honest man and trying to do the best for our country. At least we do have a health plan, although it could be better and unfortunately it is a vicious circle with free enterprise for companies and doctors etc. but we do have freedom.

This is ridiculour. There is lno country on this planet that enjoys a higher standard of living, all benefits and freedoms included, that the USA. I always want to tell people who say this that I will gladly buy them a one-way ticket to that "other" place if they will agree to never return. Where would you and I be if our ancestors had not left one of those "other" countries and come to this one? Where, in fact, would Blacks be (those who proudly call themselves "AFRICAN Americans" instead of just Americans, or at least American's of African descent, had there not been slavery? There are still tribes in Africa where people run around in loin cloths and they haven't invented the wheel yet. All of you who do this kind of carping would be better served to remain silent or, as suggested earlier, move to that wonderful "other" country. Sincerely, John Spaulding

Isn't that the truth. Maybe we should just scrap the whole system, and start over. Also, put all the politicians on Social Security with everyone else. And get rid of all there special benefits, that we have to pay for. They certainly aren't any better than the average citizen, all though they may think so. Maybe its time to dump the politicians into the harbor with the tea! This country belongs to us, not them! Bob Cassidy

I can't imagine any red blooded American, voting along party lines. They would only be voting the way that party thinks, not the way you think. I always vote for the man I think would do the best job for all concerned. Anyone who stands and tells me that thier party believes another way from me won't get my vote.I don't care to admit that I'm very conservative in my way of thinking, but I'm 66 and have heard a lot of lies from both parties. I will continue to vote for the man not the party. A greatful AMERICAN, FOR ALL OUR FREEDOMS!!!!!!!

I say Aman and Aman to the majority of the comments I read. I to stand behind our PRESIDENT, and if GOD lets me live until November, I will vote for re-election of president GEORGE W. BUSH. If you've noticed the ones who don't exercise their right to vote, are the ones that yell's first and critizes the most. It is because of people like our President that we are afforded that GREAT PRIVELEDGE! GOD, GODLY PEOPLE and PRAYER are what is going to make a difference, if it's not already to late. I Quote, "A NATION DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF CANNOT NOT STAND". This nation is truly divided and the people have no, FEAR OF GOD!!! GOD and FREEDOM is what our nation was built on. We Have drifted so far from the BIBLE, GOD"S HOLY WORD and OUR SPIRITUAL ROOTS. Anything one needs to know, can be found in The BIBLE, THE MOST PRACTICAL BOOK EVER WRITTEN!!!! If we as a nation don't turn back to GOD, WE are going to fall from within. WE CAN"T IGNORE GOD AND EXPECT HIM TO BLESS US. "PEOPLE WAKE UP", I PRAY FOR OUR NATION, IT'S LEADERS, OUR MILITARY MEN & WOMEN, AND THEIR FAMILIES. Because of their selflessness and their sacrifices we are still "FREE". STAND UP FOR AMERICA and GOD, or YOU'LL FALL FOR ANYTHING....Thank you! Wilma Alderson, W.V.

I guess it's all in how you define standard of living. I don't think that getting taxed 60% of your income is worth the so called higher standard. Free health care is not a higher standard of living. Not having true freedom of the press is not a higher standard of living. Not being able to use deadly force to protect ones person is not a higher standard of living. I could go on and on but it wouldn't change your mind. Just remember that you have to give up some government freebees to be truly FREE!
